The 25th. of November is on record as having the most natural disasters around the world over the centuries which included tsunamis, earthquakes, cyclones, tornadoes and violent storms all happening on this day.

We in the UK don't experience so many disasters but the worst to hit our shores on this day was The Great Storm of 1703, the greatest windstorm ever recorded in the southern part of Great Britain, reached its intensity which it maintained through to 27th November. Winds gusted up to 120 mph, and 9,000 people died.

Hi Ray...l can't remember the exact date but it was in November so for argument sake let's just say it was the 25th . I remember it well for it was on this date our house was hit by tornado...oh! yes it was. It was quite a windy night but nothing extreme.... At about 10 pm we heard this almighty blanket thud against the north facing wall, this quickly got us to our feet thinking what the hell was going on. When we peered out of our patio doors we could see leaves and debris being twirled around everywhere. The following morning our next door neighbour said he had witnessed it also.

Now while we are talking tornado....may l just tell you about one of my most magical experiences. Me and some friends were walking through a hay field one sunny afternoon when we found ourselves engulfed by a dust devil or should that be a hay devil. I was about 9 at the time and l will never forget what will probably be a once in a lifetime experience.

Happy days.

According to Google it's also the 184th birthday of Louisa May Alcott. I must have read "Little Women" so many times I can't count. Still I get a lump in my throat when Beth dies. I wonder, do boys/men ever read "Little Women", probably not!

Oh I loved that book too - there have been a few film versions - I've always been disappointed with them as my image of these characters is so different.

You missed one Ray :)

1986.....Our beautiful daughter was born.....she's celebrating by kayaking the river Tees this afternoon with a Walt Disney film tonight to recover.

Give my belated Birthday wishes to your daughter Keith hope she enjoyed her trip up the river.

Thanks Ray.....l'll pass on your good wishes.....she had a very enjoyable day even thought she had to have two team rescues and one swim whilst traversing along the white water of the Tees....still room for improvement but having been made to do ten rolls as a punishment she will hopefully have learnt a lot from this experience.

Having said that l said the same after her Alps swim.....If you go into YouTube and type in......"who took the marzipan off of my battenburgh" then you will see why my hair turned from brownish grey to grey overnight.

I'm still having nightmares.
