I would imagine Ariva is elegant on the inside and beautiful on the outside…can’t think of a more appropriate choice.

Let’s hope it’s not Camilla…that really would spoil the tea party. :)

If it is, it sounds more like a Carnival choice than a P&O choice ???

More attractive than Camilla that's for sure. Good choice I'd say for the demographic they want to attract.

Maybe Merv, but to be honest, can't say I've heard of her no matter how famous she may be.
May recognize her singing if I hear it.

You mean you don't have all the Pussycat Dolls albums?

I don't want to worry you but if you've never heard of her you're not P&O's target audience anymore. I can heartily recommend Saga.

I would have thought they could have gone with a British actor/singer or whatever. The only reason that I've heard of her was her previous connection with Lewis Hamilton. As you say probably a Carnival decision rather than P&O. If they'd just shown a photo of her without her name I wouldn't have known who she was. I would also think that there's a large majority of long time P&O crisers won't have heard of her either. But, yes those in the age group that P&O want to attract will know who she is. I'm certainly not in that age group and ill certainly look at Saga in the future. The problem with Saga is their name. A majority of the public see Saga as one of those brands they associate with the elderly. In order to cruise with Saga passengers only have to be 40 and over so not aged. I assume that Saga must have considered changing their name but decided not to.

You're not saying that I should tune in Saturday mornings as you spin the 78s are you?

Carole, looks like you may have to do the same. 😂

I'm definitely not P&O's target market and I do still have some 78s which belonged to my great uncle. Among them is one of 'God Save the King' - I think that might even have referred to George V! My great uncle worked for a company who made the first record players.I also have one by Sandy Macdonald called, 'Sandy and the Nudist Camp'!
One thing that occurs to me - if P&O are successful and get rid of all the 'oldies' who don't like the large ships where are they going to get the passengers to do the long cruises in term time which must bring in considerable money? Will a ship the size of Britannia do a World Cruise or are the days of the long cruises over as far as P&O are concerned?

I'm not sure that any ship's Godmother has any influence on who sails on a ship and I bet that most passengers do not have a clue as to who the Godmother of that particular ship is, or even what a ship's Godmother is.

I’m surprised many of you haven’t heard of her as she will be a household name for millions across the country, what with her appearances as an X factor judge.

She has an excellent singing voice and by all accounts has a very appealing down to earth personality.

Much better choice than one I could think about.
