Or maybe a nice Carol Service?

Oh no, silly me. Fancy bringing religion into Christmas.

I've yet to drink mulled wine that doesn't remind me of cough mixture, not my idea of a Christmas picture - maybe a lovely Nativity picture of Infant School Children!

Don't like the stuff, a single Malt works better.
Just brought a bottle of Glenmorangie for medicinal purposes ;)

Hi Carole, I’m with you…it has the uncanny taste of the cough mixture which my mother used to use by way of pinching my nose and force feeding the stuff down my throat. I think others must feel the same as I still have two bottles of the stuff I won in a raffle.

We went to Carols and Fun evening at my Lodge on Saturday night. We sang Carols and it was fun.

We then socialised and ate and drank too much 😄

For me this year a Carol Service will be special. My Grandson is a Chorister at Portsmouth Cathedral and will be singing in the Midnight Service which is being transmitted on BBC 1 on Christmas Eve at 11.40pm. He's 11 and may look angelic but isn't always! The number of rehearsals the Choir has been having is amazing. Mind you as a relaxation the boys were taken to an afternoon of bowling yesterday so they do get some time to have fun.

I can't understand why it's now necessary to say 'Happy Holidays' instead of 'Happy Christmas'. It always seems that we celebrate other religions' special celebrations but it's not ok to mention Christian ones. I will say 'Happy Hannukkah' to someone who is Jewish. I have no reason to think people of other religions are not content that Christians celebrate Christmas even though they may not. Years ago I had a Child Minder who came to my house two days a week to take care of my, then younger daughter, and she was a Jehovah's Witness. When I employed her she told me of her religion and said it would make no difference to her care of my child and it never did. She even sent both my daughters a Christmas card even though Jehovah Witnesses don't celebrate it.

Many years ago in Leicester the Council thought it more politically correct to have Seasons Greetings on the town hall instead of Merry Christmas.
There was a public outcry from the people of Leicester most strongly voiced by the Asian community who said it is a Christian celebration and the council should not be playing about with political correctness, Besides which although nothing to do with their own religion they would themselves be sharing in the celebrations.
Good for them I say.

Going against the grain I like mulled wine but then again I also like the old fashioned cough stuff.

Hello Carol, I also can’t understand but agree with your rationale.

I’m not a Grandparent yet but can imagine how broad your smile will be when your Grandson take to the pews…Enjoy!
