Anyone had an upset stomach?
My husband had a bout of food poisoning on a recent (Mid February) Canary Island cruise. We think we know where he got it and I was just wondering if anyone else was affected. I don't want to cast accusations at a particular Cruise Line hence this very generalised enquiry.
Thanks

Re: Anyone had an upset stomach?
With so many people in such a small space it is very easy to pick up stomach bugs and from time to time bouts of norovirus take place on ships. The crews work hard to eliminate and eradicate these viruses but you never know who is bringing what onboard. I'm afraid the behaviour of some passengers in their hygiene habits leave much to be desired so it is hardly surprising if some of us fall ill.
I fail to be surprised any more by the disgusting behaviour of some of my fellow passengers and the best you can do is to take your own preventative measures. We take our own hand gel and wash, wash, wash our hands, being careful with touching lift buttons, touching hand rails etc. So far the measures seem to have worked.
Having had norovirus it is not something I wish to repeat so maybe you will understand why we are so (what some may say fanatically) diligent over our own preventative measures. I share sympathy with anyone who has had norovirus but must say, although confined to cabin for three days, the lads who came to service the cabin during this time were superb.

That sounds rough. Sorry your husband went through that. It can be hard to pinpoint the exact source on a cruise, especially with how easily bugs can spread in shared spaces. Hopefully, he recovered quickly.

Simple answer is poor hygiene between passengers, and some crew if we did but know it.

Hi Foxy, just for your reassurance, all entrances to our estate house are protected with…Ultraviolet-C (UVC) light technology, which operates in the 200–280 nanometer range to disrupt the DNA or RNA of microorganisms like bacteria, viruses, and mold.oldbluefox wrote: 03 Mar 2026, 19:51With so many people in such a small space it is very easy to pick up stomach bugs and from time to time bouts of norovirus take place on ships.
