We are glad you think that Ray…we obviously need to talk to David but we are thinking of making it a subscription only thread, seeing it gives so much enjoyment to others  :D     :D

had wind surgery in Jan so he might do OK
Hi Ray, I know you're not into horse Racing like Onelife so I just want to explain something ;)

Having wind surgery is not about " stopping a horse from Farting when they are racing

Thanks for that Pompey, but if some of onelife's horses did break wind into the last furlong, then that may be the push they wanted to win.

The trouble is Ray doesn’t have my racing acumen and fails to understand the finer details of racing as much as I do. Everyone knows that horses that **** break racing laws of the Jockey Club and should always be downwind of the rest of the jockeys. Therefore they can never win. I keep telling OL but he never listens 😂

Colic in horses is a very dangerous condition and the number one cause of fatalities, thankfully this condition whilst painful in humans generally isn’t life threatening, however having listened to Ray and Foxy this past few months our natural gas suppliers should think about tapping into this unlimited resource. The amount of flatulence they've been spouting could surely be the answer to our gas shortages. :D

So I've been also taking a look at what horses could possibly do well in the Epsom Derby / Irish Derby with a good price, ignoring the favourites
One horse that's taken my eye as a possible dark horse is James J Braddock
Trained by J P O'Brien and his sire is Zarak son of Dubawi ....only won 4/13 races so not brilliant but still highly regarded and his breeding suggests the race distance will be fine for him.

He was described as a "big, rangy colt" last year—the type that usually needs a winter break to fill into his frame. Reports suggest he has done exactly that and looks like a "proper" Group horse now.
The current plan is to start his season in the Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown (April). This is a traditional trial for the Derbies, and his performance there will dictate whether he’s a legitimate contender or just a hopeful entry.

Pros: His 6-length maiden win at the Curragh was visually stunning and produced a high "Racing Post Rating" for a newcomer. He handles testing ground but has the action to suggest he’ll be fine on a sounder surface.

Cons: He hasn’t faced Group-level competition yet. He needs to prove he has the tactical speed for Epsom’s unique, undulating track

The Verdict: He is a "rumour horse" backed by substance. If he wins or goes very close in the Ballysax, his Derby odds will likely collapse. He is definitely one to keep on your radar as the "shrewd" bet of the season.

Odds at the moment about 50/1.....keep your eyes on this one ...he could be going places :o

Hi Pompey, You’ve certainly done your homework on this horse and having done a little form analysis I can see why you are keen on his chances. He looks the best of J P O’Briens bunch but only time will tell if his form is of a quality to be competitive in the Derby. As you say his next race will give more clues as to where he goes next. I will be watching with interest.

We know Pompey likes backing big outsiders but I doubt even he has backed the 300/1 winner that has just won at Kelso this afternoon.

As Victor Mildrew would say " I don't believe it " It's easy to say after the event but I did look at Crokes Cross and thought maybe but then got distracted by the other 300/1 runners like Calvalry Call & Just a Poet & then thought Nah..not really a chance
The reason I looked at CC more closely was because his other 2 races were NH flat and I was wondering if he had developed during winter. Just imagine if that was part of a winning Lucky 15 bet

Had you done a 50p lucky 15 = £7.50 stake, your return would have been £450.50 as Betfred (online) pays three times the odds for one winner.

So yes I like big outsiders....and here's one running at Haydock . This mare by rights should have absolutely no chance of winning anything
This mare was hopeless on the flat and never came higher than 5th in a race & sometimes ran at 200/1 odds
Now as you know Onelife... I like a challenge and this has possibilities of being a bigger donkey than anything you have chosen
But as George Michael once sang " You Gotta Have Faith "

This Mare hasn't run since December 2023 and only just changed trainers....so why choose her of all horses
Often, horses who struggle for speed on the Flat find a new lease on life over jumps where stamina and jumping technique are prioritized.
Hooray for Google Ai It says because she has been away so long and showed limited form previously, she is heading into Saturday as a significant outsider. .....Ok I hear you say who is this wonderful horse you've been telling us about ???
Pink Walls.....first race at Haydock 1:37 .... odds seem to be @150/1
Do I think she has a chance....of course I do and will support her with my 50p e/way bet  and Ray, hopes this choice amuses you

Hi Pompey, I’ve said on many occasions that I never let the price of a horse put me off backing it. There are however exceptions and I think you’ve found one…I can’t see anything in its form that would tempt me to have 10p ew let alone 50p ew… but as we have seen today, miracles can happen…if I was trying to make a case for this horse it could only be that “Pink Walls” previous trainer had a poor strike rate, but the same applies to his new trainer. By all means follow your hunch but you could split your stake and have 25p ew on my fancy which runs at Fairyhouse Saturday “Hello Neighbour" currently 12/1. This horse didn’t have a clear passage on its last run, and came from a long way back, yet still managed to get within 8 lengths of Wilful.

We live in hope, but on this occasion I think you are giving both Ray and Foxy plenty of ammunition.

Keep punting

Pink Walls to win  As I said ...not a chance  but if Flash Candidate falls again & Flash Bardot who needs soft ground for best runs doesn't perform then maybe she has a chance of 2nd or 3rd ?
Or maybe there's more chance of the Easter bunny coming to your door today with an Easter egg
As for Hello Neighbour....yes good quality horse ...(only just under 5l away from Lulamba)
Looks like Mullins wants to win this...has entered 6 horses  Maybe a different bet would be that he gets the first three places

Onelife’s Saturday Bankers

I’ve struggled to find decent angles to work with tomorrow so I’m only backing three, the first of which runs at Fairyhouse “Hello Neighbour" ran a fine race at Cheltenham last time out and if he runs up to that level again will have a good chance of being in the mix. It’s a competitive race but with more luck in running than he got last time out he has to be a fair shot at 12/1

Hello Neighbour 5.00 Fairyhouse £5 win (12/1 taken)

Returning back across the Irish sea we go to Musselburgh for my other two selections.

A tentative vote goes for “Democracy Dilemma” who would prefer better going than he will probably get tomorrow, but with a fair wind behind him he should run well.

“Democracy Dilemma”- 3.42 Musselburgh - £5 win

With J S Goldie having six entered up for the 4.45 race it’s a case of take your pick. The one I quite fancy is “Montezuma” who has yet to win a race but has run some credible races in defeat. The stable's second jockey has chosen to ride this one in preference to any of the other stables horses. This could be significant considering she has won on some of the other stable horses entered up for this race.

“Montezuma” 4.45 Musselburgh - £8 win £2 place

I’ve decided to throw one more into the pot with “Courtland” who runs in the veterans race at Haydock. A horse which is prone to jumping errors which is I suspect the reason you can get 14/1 about his chances. That being said, on a good day there is nothing in his form which suggests he shouldn’t have a chance, combine this with the trainers and Jockey's good strike rate then I think it’s worth an ew bet….

“Courtland” 3.20 Haydock £4 win.

Errr....hate to mention this but you seem to be saying one thing & doing another
You said .... then I think it’s worth an ew bet…. and then you say £4 win :o

Hope you win anyway but.........
I just wonder if this is a race Jonjo O'Neill is going to sneak in and grab with Genois

I also saw that at Fairyhouse ...on Sunday, 3 horses that I like are running in the WillowWarm Gold Cup at 5:00
I have a feeling that Sixmilebridge who I've liked for a long time, won't be able to win this one.

Just covering my back Pompey…I think “Courtland” has a better chance of running into a place, but as you know I tend to back to win….I said ew just in case you wanted to switch from your ew Donkey “Pink Walls” to something that has at least a chance of getting home before tomorrow morning.

I should have taken the price on both Democracy Dilemma and Montezuma as they’ve both been backed into Fav. I note "Hello Neighbour" has been backed into 8/1 (12/1 taken)

Btw…Guy’s horse Jack Doyen runs in the 2.35 at Newton Abbott….I think he will do well to win with a couple of others looking more capable. I might have a couple of quid on Jack because he owe’s me nothing after his last win.

Yes ...you should have taken the price...never mind if they win it's still good
Interesting about Guys horse running again....I'll try to take a look at the race if I can
I have noticed that your often recommended Purosangue is running at Pontefract on Tuesday
I've not suggested anything except Pink Walls  Won't be betting on anything this weekend
