Re: Horse Racing 2026/2027
I had noticed Purosangue has been entered up on Tuesday and will be having a good bet on this horse, Ok’ it’s always a chance betting on a horse for its first run on the season but if it stays soft/good/soft then I will be taking that chance.
What I find really interesting is that he is essentially a 6f horse but has been entered up for a 5f race…but hold on, Pontefract is one of the toughest 5f courses in the country, due to it being uphill most of the way….join me on this one Pompey…this horse is extremely well handicapped.

Won by nearly 3 lengths....well done for backing him
Purosangue changed trainers 5 days ago. Purosangue has moved from Andrew Balding’s yard to Robert Cowell.
Cowell is known as a "sprint specialist," so the move suggests his owners (Mrs. Fitri Hay) are looking to sharpen him up specifically for the big handicap sprints this year.
The main chatter around the betting rings is that his handicap mark has dropped slightly to 96, making him very "well-weighted" compared to his peak of 107. If the ground comes up soft for his debut, many expect a massive run.
So yes Onelife I think I'll join you with a bet

Today results
Democracy Dilemma 13th - beaten when hampered towards the finish.
Court Land PU 18/1 never seen with a chance…Pompey selected Genios 2nd - 10/1 must be considered unlucky - finished fast having made a lot of ground up towards the finish.
Hello Neighbour 3rd - 11/2 - had every chance but just not good enough on the day.
Montezuma - 2nd - 13/2 fell out of the stalls, rapid headway final fulong…very unlucky.
So what do we say in these situations - Grand National meeting stars Thursday.

Hi Pompey, what's your fancy for the Irish Grand National tomorrow? I’ve just taken 20/1 about Mombeg Genius. Backed this one last time out when he was a running on 3rd in the Kim Muir. Bit of an in and out horse but if he’s on an in day he should run a good race.

Actually slightly wrong information...He still has a chance of taking part...the reserve deadline is I think 10:00am tomorrow.
So my choice is still The Lovely Man

If The Lovely Man doesn't run I'm going to try with Born Braver even though he last ran a few days ago and was rewarded with a huge 8lb penalty for this race. Just hope he isn't too kn***ered after that rin of 3m 4 f

Hi Pompey, trying to find the winner of a 30 runner handicap isn’t going to be easy but your selection “Born Braver” must have a chance at the weights.

Re: Horse Racing 2026/2027
Well Onelife had a good go.....Monbeg Genius ran into 5th place but was nowhere near the winner Soldier in Milan. My horse was just not up to it for this race and all the big priced outsiders 33/1 or longer odds were pulled up.
We now wait with hearts thumping for Onelife to start this week, his usual " Grand National " topic.

Re: Horse Racing 2026/2027
Hi Pompey, Mombeg was close enough to give me a return on my stake…Betfred paid out on the first 6 home.
I’ll post the Grand National thread "Tuesday" as I normally wait for the BBC Pinstickers Guide which makes it easy for once a year punters to follow.
With the ground drying out there could be a few no runners…I note Spillanes Tower has been withdrawn but is still entered up for a race earlier in the week….that being said I can’t see him running in that either, if the ground wasn’t good enough at Cheltenham then it certainly won’t be good enough at Aintree.
I’m keeping an eye on one in the Topham Chase Friday…”O’Moore Park” currently 33/1…just need betfred to go nrnb (None Runner No Bet) and I’ll be on.

Re: Horse Racing 2026/2027
Mullins is "hoping for softer ground." He believes the horse travels better and jumps more accurately when the turf has more give, which would significantly boost his chances of hitting the frame. He also views him as a high-class horse who "stays all day."Onelife wrote: 06 Apr 2026, 21:01I’m keeping an eye on one in the Topham Chase Friday…”O’Moore Park” currently 33/1
Whilst he seems to fit in with alot of the stats....the one I would be more concerned with is that he has never won a chase...
11/11 of the last winners have had least one previous chase win
Doesn't mean that he can't win but it does show a trend ....something for you to consider

Re: Horse Racing 2026/2027
The money has come for the horse I put up a few days ago…”Purosangue” is now fav.
Pompey informed me a few days ago that the horse has only just been transferred to a different stable, something I wasn’t aware of and is of some concern. His chance will all depend on whether or not the horse has been trained up to fitness before his transfer - is so, then I think he is a cracking bet…if not then I’ve just blown £22 (9/2 taken with best odds guaranteed)
Purosangue - 3.57 Pontefract - £22 win.
So, will it be …Jam and bread or Stilton with pickle? Foxy and Ray will most certainly be back later if its Jam and bread

So ...it's not I'm going to slap on a tenner type bet....this is one of serious intent
And all of a sudden...the betting keeps changing....One minute they made Purosangue favourite.....then out of the blue Spartan Arrow jumps in as joint favourite.
( Also take a look at Seven Questions who I thought wouldn't make the top 3....has same owner & trainer now gone from about 16/1 yesterday to 9/1 today.....what is going on ?
)
Now the punters have latched onto Reigning Profit @ 5/1
Looks like this is going to be some race.....I'm all for supporting Onelifes choice Purosangue

Today’s result
Purosangue 4th….very slow away, - last with a furlong to go - finished fast.
I’m pretty pleased with that run Pompey…he clearly has trained on and retains plenty of ability.
So what do we say in these situations….only invite Foxy to your party if you want it to go down like a house on fire

If all we’re getting now is a cup of tea and a dry cream cracker I won’t be there anyway. I was expecting the marquee to be up and champagne flowing. I think I’ll go to BetFreds party instead
