Funnily enough I bought a large Marquee for a village garden party I held….I’m just waiting for that big win so I can use it again

Hard to say but as you know he was held up in the rear.....maybe if Rossa had pushed along 50 yards earlier
They say he couldn't get the extra gear he needed....Solution = run him on tracks without an uphill incline at the finish
Lets see if he makes a big improvement in his Newmarket race 2nd May...by then Robert Cowell will have a much better idea of how capable he is.

Attherace race report….” wore hood to post, dwelt, held up in rear, switched right and plenty to do when pushed along over 1f out, soon ridden, ran on well inside final furlong and went fourth final strides, nearest finish”
I’m making Purosangue my horse to follow this season and I fully expect to come out on top.
Pompey, keep an eye out for when they put up antipost prices for the “Heritage Handicap” for me.
P.s I don't think it was a case of him being held up in the rear...he had little option aftyer a slow start, imo.

Onelife’s Saturday/Sunday Bankers
Supremely West - 1.20 - Aintree…Won’t be far away with a trainer who likes to target this race….his Cheltenham win looks strong.
Supremely West - £5 win
Strong Leader - 3.5 Aintree…this is a very strong race with last year’s winner Hiddenvalley Lake beating Strong Leader but there are some other good horses looking to change that result. My preference is however for Strong Leader who’s trainer has his string in good form.
Strong Leader - £5 win
Sunday
Montezuma - 4.45 Musslbough - Backed this one last time out where he fell out of the stalls but made up lots of ground to finish a very unlucky second. If he breaks on level terms then he looks to have every chance of going one better.
Montezuma £10 win.

Re: Horse Racing 2026/2027
Pompys amazing £2 Saturday accumulator....for once not on long priced outsiders but if by a fluke they all win I think I get £2000 for £3
Like that's really gonna happen
(It was meant to be only £2 but the machine took the other pound I had in it
)
Aintree Saturday....
12:45 Mighty Bandit......@ 9/2
13:20 Hold The Serve....@ 11/2
13:55 Bossman Jack......@ 5/2
16:00 I Am Maximus......@ 7/1....yes I will be gutted if the first three all win and Jagwar wins instead
Now regarding Sunday races it might surprise that when i was at the bookies, I decided to have a small bet on a Group 3 Irish Race
You might remember me mentioning about a big outsider entered for the Derby....James J Braddock
Well he runs at Leopardstown Ballysax Stakes against big name horses Pierre Bonnard & Christmas Day ( Aiden O'Brien )+ others
I thinks he's about 12/1 and I've got my usual £1 e/way bet but they couldn't give me a price so I'll have to go with the SP

Has you taken the 50/1 (anti-post) about J James Baddock for the Derby...if it wins tomorrow you'll be lucky to get 1/3 of that price.

Yes I did that.Just like you I think if he really is good then those odds will drop especially if he beats the highly rated Pierre Bonnard.Onelife wrote: 10 Apr 2026, 22:46Has you taken the 50/1 (anti-post) about J James Baddock for the Derby...if it wins tomorrow you'll be lucky to get 1/3 of that price.
I have a couple of others I'm looking into possibly taking a chance on a couple of small anti-post bets ahead of the classics

Well, that's my accumulator gone
....1st race winner was 50/1 can you believe it ! only Jagwar to look forward to now
Keeping my eye on a couple of lesser horse at Leopardstown tomorrow as they are outside chances in a classic race
Greyon & Mumhan....might just go 50p e/way on them as the buzz is they wintered well. Can't do worse tham my lottery ticket last night

Re: Horse Racing 2026/2027
Saturday/Sunday results
Supremely West - £5 win - 4th 7/1 - ran on when race already won
Strong Leader - £5 win PU 9/1 - clearly not his running
Sunday
Montezuma - £10 win - 1st 5/2 (4/1 taken) won going away.
So what do we say in these situations ... .profit on the day but would have been bigger had Ray not given my wife that donkey.

Hi Pompey, just watched the Leopardstown race and while James J Braddock could only manage 5th he looked like work in progress to me ... .that being said, I can’t envisage any of them winning the Derby?

Re: Horse Racing 2026/2027
Yes Pierre Bonnard was a surprise but I've since read reasons why, including the race was not run in the way of his preferred galloping style
Also Ryan Moore said he ran on the bad part of the ground. He remains on course for Epson at the moment. Will wait and see if James j Braddock makes progress and of course I have my £1 e/way bet @50/1 if he does actually run. I didn't make any bet on Greyon & Mumhan, just as well they both didn't do as well as I was hoping for.
A few interesting races to see later this week at Newmarket although I won't be betting on any of them, just noting the results
Nell Gwyn stakes & The Craven
I suspect you'll be looking closely at the Scottish Champion Hurdle & Scottish Grand National at Ayr on Saturday
I know about that other horse running & this time I'll be making no comment
( but if it does win I'll be standing in a corner with a big dunces hat on
)

I doubt the other horse “Minella Missile” will run seeing there’s no mention of ‘soft’ in the going.

Correction...I thought Minella was running at Newbury whereas he is actually running at Ayr where soft is mentioned in the going. I’ll take a closer look nearer the time to see if I can waste more money on the donkey?

I hadn’t noticed that Epictetus was declared tomorrow so I’ll know tomorrow whether or not you have done me a favour or lost me another fiver. I wouldn’t have thought Lingfield would have suited this horse as it is a sharp track in nature and suits horses that can gain a good position and hold it…not so sure this criteria meets Epictetus’s style of running but no doubt we’ll find out tomorrow.
He has however got a decent draw and if he gets a decent break….dam it, I’m going to have a tenner on him.

Re: Horse Racing 2026/2027
Hi Pompey, I’ve been looking at a race at Newmarket tomorrow in which “Sterling Knight” runs ( I backed it last time out) Below is the Sporting life race report which having reviewed the race several times doesn’t in my opinion reflect how this horse ran
“Gained reward for his consistency in 2025 when bagging 7f handicap at Doncaster in July but has returned with a pair of below-par efforts this year, merely passing beaten rivals back at aforementioned track on latest start. Has something to prove now.”
I’ve now decided to split the tenner between the two.

I may be stepping out of line here but I think you're making a common punters mistake on slapping a bet on, because you like a horse, rather than evaluating the realistic chances of it winning in that race. Having taken a close look at the runners and also taking into consideration the judgement of some of the better tipsters around
....I regret to inform you that Sterling Knight will be lucky to come 3rd let alone win and whilst he is still very capable of winning...this won't be one of those days. The opposition is too strong ( IMO )

Hope you liked my little tease....
You should of course have picked the Fitri Hay horse Great Chieftain
whereas I would have picked young Tycoon because the name sounds good

“Better Tipsters Around” ?.... are you having a laugh, let me put you straight on that score, my win to lose ratio is as good if not better than some of the professional tipsters ( I haven't got the stats at hand to back this up)
There are two or three horses that I follow through the season “Sterling Knight not being one of them, but as with most handicappers they generally win one or two throughout the season. Purosangue didn’t win last season but if it stays sound this season he will most definitely win this time around.
As for today’s donkeys…Epictetus is one that I follow and has cost me in the region of £50 following it but live in hope that his time will come. As for Sterling Knight, yes he is the outsider of the field but you can only go on what you see and I saw enough in his last race that suggests to me that he shouldn’t be a 20/1 shot in today's race.
Win or lose the enjoyment of racing for me is to spot something other punters didn’t see, whether that will be the case today I can only hope. But as I always say…”remember the winners and forget the losers”
P.s I’ve also had a £2 win double on the pair.

Well Pompey, Sterling Knight finished 7th of the 10 runners but was only beaten 5 ½ lengths which in my book was a decent run…one for the note book.
At least I got a better run for my money than the donkey you thought I should have backed….you needed a pair of binoculars to see where that one finished

The primary reason reported for the poor finish was that the horse was never travelling and failed to respond when asked for effort in the closing stages....
This was his first run back in the UK after a winter campaign at Meydan in Dubai. Analysts suggested he may have found the change in conditions or the return to the undulating Rowley Mile challenging after his recent efforts abroad.
To be fair C Appleby said his other horse that won earlier Talk of New York found it hard to settle in Meydan

Getting closer Pompey
…Epictetus 2nd beaten ½ length.
The problem with Epictetus is that he keeps running good races thereby not getting much help from the handicapper.
