I’m still here and well - thanks for the concern - kind of you to ask. I always read your racing posts and it brings back memories of my mother’s love of horse racing. My granddaughter went to Ladies Day at Aintree last week very conservatively dressed compared with some! She won £65 on a race!

Haven’t been on a cruise since last October and none booked. The family cruises are a thing of the past now that the granddaughters are almost 19 and 23 - not cool sailing with the oldies 😂. Have a land based holiday booked for July in this country - so many places I haven’t been to in the UK.

No cruises booked unfortunately. I do have a three night break in my favourite hotel booked later this month. It's a 'girls' trip usually which means my sister-in-law and me of the older generation plus my two daughters. However, we've decided to be really kind and let two husbands, one older, one younger, join us for the final night, aren't we being magnanimous! As long as they realise this doesn't mean next time they can come for the whole stay! I also have a week booked in a fantastic looking large house to accommodate all the family, including grandchildren, in August. We've done it once before a couple of years ago and we were so lucky to. have a fantastic sunny week, yes in this country, in Summer. Of course this time we may not be so lucky but hopefully there will be enough activities to keep the young happy, pool, lake, canoes, games room etc. Last time it worked really well and the grandchildren still talk about how lovely the week was. If the opportunity arose I'd like to do another cruise, but we'll see.

Hi Jan, pleased to hear that Jan, as you know you’ve always been my favorite poster. :)

I think there comes a time for us all when cruising has to take a back seat and as you say there are so many lovely places to visit in this lovely country of ours. We have a cottage booked in Tenby in July
haven’t been there since our honeymoon and will be celebrating our 40th this time around.

Stay young, healthy and smiling

Hi all, Screwy here.

I’ve not been on the site for some time, logging on sometimes becomes an issue for some reason.?

Like some of the others we have put cruising at the back of our plans,we do still have a Canaries fly cruise booked for November 27. the cost seem to have sky rocketed. I checked yesterday for a weeks Fjords on Iona in June with a balcony and was quoted ÂŁ3300,!

We cancelled the 2 cruises we had booked for this year. We are now going to Sydney and Singapore for 3 weeks for less than the Caribbean cruise in December, that includes spends.

Will still look in now and again, don’t miss me too much.

The best I’m prepared to do is take the “Not my King” banner off the front gate for a couple of hours  :D

I have problems logging on.

I am off with Saga next week to Scandinavia. Weather doesn't look too promising .
My January cruise was very memorable for the awful weather forcing us to miss the Canaries completely. The nice Saga people gave us a discount off a future cruise.

Take care all.

It would be interesting to hear from any of our old members even if it’s just to let us know you are still enjoying life
if you’re pushing up daisies
then don’t bother. :(

What is wrong with young members?

By "old" are you referring to the age of a forum member or to the length of time they have been a member.

Just asking for some clarity for an "old" friend!!

Must mean length of service. No-one here is chronologically old.

My friend said.

Does anyone remember Derek? He used to board the ship wearing things like a striped blazer and boater. He had very high standards and certainly wasn't afraid of giving his opinion. He also did give some good advice to people who hadn't cruised before.

I never met the man but having read many comments about his dress attire he certainly didn’t shop at Primark. I do remember him never being short of an opinion
opinions which often sparked heated debate on the forum
.I just agreed with everything he said as I hate confrontation  :)

I remember him well, and not always for the right reasons.

A bit too self opinionated for my liking.
