What no horse racing on Itv today & the best they can do is Celebrity Catchphrase & Dickinsons Real Deal
Try ITV 4 if you’re getting withdrawal symptoms…4 races from Newmarket today.

Hope Evan Williams likes porridge...with all the trimmings of course.

Seems an appropriate sentence to me, especially as he’ll probably only serve 15 months of it?

Couple of interesting 3 yr old races for me to take note of ( Not Betting ) at Newmarket.
Feilden Stakes 14:25 has Isaac Newton back and it will be interesting to see if he can get back to winning again but I'm more interested in seeing how newcomer Wareeth is going to run.
Nell Gwynn Stakes 15:35 quite interested in Inis Mor although her trainer doesn't seem to be doing that well. Don't think she will win but interested in how she performs as she is also might run in The Oaks although for sure she won't be a leading contender.

Feel no sympathy for him but I do feel sorry that about 30 people will lose their jobs

Is the stable closing down?...I thought his wife had taken over the training licence?

Sorry, yes you are correct, Cath Williams had the license transferred to her by the BHA
The job security of the staff largely depends on whether the owners of the horses choose to keep them at the yard under Cath’s leadership or move them to other trainers.

Onelife’s Saturday Bankers

Ayr racecourse stage two of their most Prestigious NH races tomorrow with the first of these being the Champion Hurdle. I decided to take a chance earlier in the week and take the 12/1 (anti-post) about “Gibbs Island” 2.20 Ayr. His last run where he finished 7th of 23 stands up well when you consider he met trouble in running and came from a long way back. He does tend to run his races like this so with only 10 runners he should get a trouble free run.
I would like to see “Tellherthename” get withdrawn which would increase Gibbs chances significantly.

Gibbs Island - £5 win (12/1 taken)

The Ayr Grand National is the second of the two races and it won’t be an easy task finding the winner… what with 21 runners to choose from. I’ve looked at all the runners but keep coming back to “Kim Roque” 3.35. The stats don’t look favourably on this horse's chances, that’s despite it being fav for the race, that being said, if you can put the stats aside this horse looks to have every chance based on his recent runs.

Kim Roque - £7 win (5/1 taken)

For my final “hope and a prayer” selection we move to Nottingham. The one of interest here is “Evelyn’s Phoenix” 7.15 - not that his recent form of (000660890) will have you running to the bookies, but if you go back far enough there are reasons to suggest he might have a better chance than his current odds would suggest, add to this, this race isn’t the strongest in terms of quality so If he is fit and ready to run,...and can overcome a 173 day lay off then I think he’s worth my speculative punt at the price.

Evelyn’s Phoenix - £4 win £1 place

Hi Onelife, Been to a funeral & wake all day so haven't followed any horse racing.
Just watched the 2:20 at Ayr......wow what a finish  ....his wind surgery really worked
Haven't really looked at the Ayr Grand national but remember mentioning in a post on 12th April.....Ask Brewster
maybe my fun suggestion could actually win
Your choice Kim Roque is a bit of a gamble....recent stats show favourites hardly ever win :o

Hi Onelife, to add to the reasons why this horse would have to change some stats to win, Ive also noticed in the last 19 years every horse that has won has won at least once in their last six runs and Kim Roque doesn't fit the bill.
Plus points to consider are...in 2024 Macdermott was 6yrs old when he won. Also in 2023 Kitty's Light won when Joint favourite....but then again they both had a win in their last 6 races
Under my brand new statistic of the must have won in the last six races ...the following horses will also not win
Our Power, Stolen Silver, Famous Bridge, Maximillian, Gabbys Cross, Collectors Item & Git Maker
I just can't wait to be proved wrong

Under the same pretext…if Kim Roque jumps round he wins

I’m a bit peeved as I see Evelyn’s Phoenix has been backed into 15/2 - I could have taken 18/1 when I put this one up yesterday…I did manage to get 10/1

All it's got to do now is….Win.

Great price you got with Gibbs Island .... your horse at Nottingham might need the run before he improves
I was wondering if the Skeltons might sneak in with a win in the first race at Ayr with Calico but I wouldn't be betting on h
