But from what I have read there were metal detectors at the entrance(s) to the venue but by then he was already staying in the hotel.

Anyway if the rumours are to be believed it was all staged to deflect from the war with Iran, otherwise why would anyone say "I stayed around to see what was happening" when gunshots were being fired?
