P&O Wasting my time

Unread post by johnds »

We are going on Arcadia next month
I have steadfastly refused to book the well overpriced shore excursions on offer

Yesterday I get an email to say that NEW excursions had been introduced but when I click for details
I just get shoved to the Cruise Personaliser.
Oh well - perhaps the new excursions are highlighted
No such luck. If there are any new excursions (which I doubt - define "new") then I'm not trawling
through the whole thing to discover what they are.

An example of overpricing
A 4 hour guided tour ON FOOT not entering any paid venues £44 - no thanks

£44 ish seems to be the standard rate these days and not just with P&O.

We have experienced the same with Riverboat and Coaching Holidays in recent times, albeit not for a walking tour although that may depend upon where it is of course as places like Iceland for example can be outrageously expensive.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

One of the other things with some of the walking tours is that you need transport to/from the walk.

As for the "new" excursions - could that be the fact that there are some more places now available or that some of the excursions have now become available?

I assume this is just P&O sending out advertising reminders to customers whose cruises are imminent, we received an e-mail yesterday for shore excursions on our cruise sailing on Tuesday.
However you would think that P&O's IT dept. might think of linking individual booking info to the mail shot, if they did they would see that we have already booked a wheelchair accessible tour and so are unlikely to book able bodied tours, or am I expecting too much intelligence of P&O's IT people.

In fairness to P&O John, a rare commodity on this site sometimes, it might be that although a party included members for whom wheel chair accessibility was a must, there might also be others in that party for whom it was not essential and might book a trip on their own. I'm sure those who required a mix of tours would be mightily p####ed off if one booking for a wheelchair accessible tour meant they received no information about any other sort. IT can do many things but it can't take account of tta sort of variation so surely safer to send all info to all people and let them make their choices?

JUst returned from a very enjoyable black sea cruise on Arcadia but did find out,too late for us that the hop on hop off bus in Piraeus drops off at the acropolis ,cost 10 euros. So as long as you do not need a personal guide this is a good alternative and it starts at the gate just along from where the shuttle bus drops you off. Also 10min walk up and down a steep hill opposite gate takes you to the marina, prom and main shopping area, there is also alittle train that jogs around Piraeus so if you have already done Athens you can spend a pleasant day in port.
