Re: A Big Thank You.......
Cheers Ray.
I've not seen the final proof yet, and it's not quite the cover I showed you/hoped for, as even with your help I just couldn't get the resolution of the bigger image to sufficient quality. However, a smaller version of that image still forms the focal point of the cover, so fingers crossed it won't look like I've just spent 20 minutes with a packet of crayons and double sided sticky tape!
That's the hope anyway. Cheers for your help either way.

Well done - I want a copy! Hope you are well (I used the old forum under Camomile don't know why I changed though).

Hi Maxine
I'm fine thanks, if a wee bit shattered from this book writing lark.
Yes I remember you really well from the old forum, hope you're good. Thanks for this, and all your encouragemt over the years
If I do publish, I'll let you know for sure.

I didn't read your blogs on the old website (I was a late-comer to the forum there) and feel I've missed out on a lot, so I would very much like to read your book.
It's good to see you back!
My mum self-published her autobiography (paperback) but I'd be interested to know what is involved in going down the Kindle route.

I was thinking of starting a thread on publishing your own book as I was surprised how easy it is and want to encourage others to do likewise. It was George Williams (of Around the World Without Wings fame) who got me over the finish line with his encouragement and know how so I feel duty bound to pass on his wisdom.
Tell you what, give me a few weeks to decide exactly what, if anything, I do with my book (and for me to follow through the kindle route I haven't fully gone through yet) and I'll post a few bits to show how easy it is.
Writing The book itself is still tricky obviously but I think some people are put off from even doing/finishing that bit as the actual publishing element can seem overwhelming.

And I'll pass your comments on to Lola. She's been a little deflated recently and this will pump her up no end

Re: A Big Thank You.......
Thanks, Dennis, no rush as far as I am concerned. We used a local publisher (well, they just happened to be local to me!), who were the cheapest I could find via Google, to run off two lots of 20, which she gave away to friends and family. We didn't send one to the National Library, but assume that's only required if you have an ISBN issued to the book.

Oops, I had forgotten that bit Alan
I was automatically allocated an ISBN, but will check what the situation is if I don't actually publish.

If you just want to publish a few, without all the formalities, I can recommend Azimuth Print

Re: A Big Thank You.......
Everything is good thank you, Post Office busy and family all well, the little ones are growing up far too quickly but they keep us young.. well I like to think they do! Looking forward to our Med fly-cruise in September, it seems ages since we walked onboard for a holiday, mind you I get a cheeky weekender at Easter, I was taking Mum for a break but she then decided to book the following cruise so I get off and leave her on-board

Blimey lollie, it's hard enough leaving a cruise ship anyway, but leaving family members onboard with big wide grins on their faces too.
Go on treat yourself to another week and fund it from that increase in the price of stamps

Re: A Big Thank You.......
Being the public face for Royal Mail and also Government services I quickly learned a smile works wonders even with the most difficult customer. Had a great weekend with Mum on Oriana, back to a family weekend which resulted in the planned picnic taking place in our lounge under a tent constructed between our sofas (!!) and loads of clearing up but I have to say grandchildren are just soooooooo special. Back to work and looking forward to September and Ventura.

Re: A Big Thank You.......
Hi all.
I've finally published my book ! Well, it's published and available currently, I could still lose my nerve and unpublish it again . So thanks again everyone for all the encouragement over the years. It's taken me 12 years to get to this point and have so nearly given up so many times it's ridiculous.
Not sure how much info I can post without blatantly advertising my book and where you can get it (david, if I can put that level of info, then I'll happily do so) but hopefully it's ok for you to message me for those details if you are interested. It's in kindle and paperback.
Thanks again.

Get the info out there Dennis and we can note it quickly in case you're censored.
After all, what can the Modplods do to you? Hanging's been abolished for years!
There's enough advertising for various cruise lines on here. Hard to think your enterprise will offend. But if it does it looks like I'll be on jankers too for encouraging you!

Merv, Where does that leave me. Will I be on trial for advertising companies . I will plead ignorance on the grounds of old age. I always knew those big numbers would come in useful.
