That could still account for disgruntleification - didn't deserve a vote.

It’s the beginning of the end for Johnson.
He’s been exposed for what he is.
He’s done his job.
Time to move on.
I can’t believe that he will be in post by the next election.

Re: Current Affairs
I look around the current cabinet and fail to see anyone who is charismatic enough to effectively replace Boris as leader, and of course we have up to 3 years before there needs to be a general election, and lots of things could change by then.barney wrote: 17 Dec 2021, 09:12It’s the beginning of the end for Johnson.

If we start seeing Sir Ian Brady on the tv in the new year, then we’ll know his time is up.

I would like to think that the voting public have woken up to the fact that having a charismatic personality doesn’t necessarily mean you get a competent leader …. give me deadpan Gove any day of the week.towny44 wrote: 17 Dec 2021, 09:35I look around the current cabinet and fail to see anyone who is charismatic enough to effectively replace Boris as leader, and of course we have up to 3 years before there needs to be a general election, and lots of things could change by then.barney wrote: 17 Dec 2021, 09:12It’s the beginning of the end for Johnson.

Gove is a back stabber, the likes of Raab and Truss are just airheads and are already in positions way above their competence levels ... the only one I believe that deserves a chance is Sunak.Onelife wrote: 17 Dec 2021, 10:44I would like to think that the voting public have woken up to the fact that having a charismatic personality doesn’t necessarily mean you get a competent leader …. give me deadpan Gove any day of the week.![]()

See, gullible people who believe what they read in the papers and listen to what there being told by the BBC are quite powerful actually. The Tories weren't just beaten they were humiliated. They lost a 10,000 majority. If that ain't a wake up call to the lying, greedy, cheating bar stewards then I don't know what is. They will ignore this result at their peril.

I will allow one mistake, and am happy to accept that Sunak had an alien parasite attacking his brain causing his IQ to drop by 120 points during that period. At least that is more believable than anything Johnson has ever said.Onelife wrote: 17 Dec 2021, 12:07Sunak lacks good judgment…. he backed Johnson for the leadership.Kendhni wrote: 17 Dec 2021, 11:14Gove is a back stabber, the likes of Raab and Truss are just airheads and are already in positions way above their competence levels ... the only one I believe that deserves a chance is Sunak.Onelife wrote: 17 Dec 2021, 10:44I would like to think that the voting public have woken up to the fact that having a charismatic personality doesn’t necessarily mean you get a competent leader …. give me deadpan Gove any day of the week.![]()

The good folk of Shrewsbury are as pee-ed off with their Covid lives as everybody else, the Tory voters stayed home and the Liberal Twitterettes voted en mass as a protest.

Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Bit of a kick in the teeth for Sir Hindsight? He must have thought that Labour would do better. I know it was and probably still is a Tory stronghold being a mostly rural area but even so the voters rejected him. I’m sure it will return blue at the next election.

Re: Current Affairs
Right then have we all got our bags packed for our trip to Wales?
As their restrictions are not coming into effect until 27th December it is obvious that Covid is having a 10 day holiday in Wales - so we might as well all go to Wales and party!!!

Re: Current Affairs
But back to the by-election. It was a typical mid term backlash, albeit a very big one. Voters make protests at by-elections but usually return to their roots at a General Election.
But what happens then? Either the Lib Dems are slapped down again, especially if they campaign again to overturn Brexit. Or they gain a few more seats, But it won't be enough to take power.
So then what? Another coalition? Look how well that went for them last time!
Or will Sir Hindsight actually come up with some policies by then? Because he sure hasn't so far. He needs to do better than "I wouldn't have done that".

I'd keep an eye on the news. Not a bad idea Foxy.
Something to think about once and if normality ever returns. Take over a hotel for a weekend, sound good to me. Merv said he'd get the first round in.
