The essential words are "if true." Again I will await the investigation. If the allegations are proven then disciplinary procedures and the law must take their course.

I do detect something akin to the "Me Too" movement here. I'm not dismissing all allegations but, like that movement, there may be some sensing blood and jumping on the bandwagon.

It needs investigating properly. We should never again do as we did before. For example Savile is guilty so Cliff Richard must be too.

Where I do disagree completely is your slur on the police force.

There is no slur, the police have been turning a blind eye in what is going on in 10 Downing street for a couple of years now. Either that or they are crassly incompetent in relation to the job they are meant to be doing.

I hope the alleged blackmail recordings do exist and we get to stamp this cancer out of government once and for all.

I had to laugh, we have had painters in for much of the week tidying up the house. I got talking to one and boy was he having a go at the 'younger generation' ... telling me how they aren't disciplined; parents failing in their job because they were more interested in being a friend to their children; entitled; spoilt and lazy etc.

I don't think he quite figured out why I was laughing ... it was because this grumpy old man was 17. His father, who owns the painting business, turned round to me later and said that his youngest son had just got a new Playstation, which is what kicked this off.

I do hope for the sake of your sanity Ken, that the party gate report and the whips blackmail allegations, do produce enough corroboration to satisfy your steaming anger. Otherwise I worry that you might have a serious breakdown, if it turns out to be a whitewash. :sarcasm: :o

My counselling fees are very reasonable but somehow, I don’t think Ken will be needing them ;) :)

You seem significantly more unstable about it than me.

From the point Carrie took over and sacked Cummings I have always said this is going to get hilarious ... and it has ... we have a clown as PM, he is doing exactly what clowns do and some people seem to think it is not an act. It appears some people are waiting for a Fiat 500 to pull up infront of number 10 and the entire cabinet get out of it wearing red noses and big shoes before they realise they have been taken for fools.

Statements have already been made that the PM will be allowed to see the report first and that the whole report may not be made public ... that implies the PM has editing rights over the report he commissioned from one of his minions. Do you think the report should be published in full or would you trust a report that has been redacted by the PM (as he has done in the past)?

You need to keep your histrionics under control, there is still hope that the government will be able to whitewash this ... or at best Gray wash it.. Then those that have been willing to accept lower and lower standards from their political representatives can breathe a sigh of relief at another cover up by a mendacious PM. This week is going be a good laugh either way.

Nothing has been mentioned over Nusrat Ghani and her sacking over 'Muslimness' in 2020. At the time she reported it to Boris who suggested she take it up with party HQ. But seemed to have declined to do so.
Why bring it up now,? is it because now with No10 being so wounded she may have a better chance to stay in the fold.
How many more allegations are waiting in the wings.

As I understand it, she was told she could have a Conservative Party enquiry, which she didn’t feel was appropriate, as it was governmental business, not party business.

As to why she didn’t bring it up earlier - nobody can be sure what’s going on in someone’s head, but perhaps she felt alone, threatened or unsupported, all of which can make it difficult to speak up

Meanwhile, it’s being reported that there was yet another party

This Sue Gray enquiry is taking ages. How long do they need to decide whether there was parties going on and who attended them? It's already been suggested but I do wonder whether they are editing the thing. Whoops, silly me, the Tories would never do such a thing.

She may not realize it was a party thinking it's a business meeting. May have to ask Boris for clarification.

Pure revenge opportunism in my opinion.
Encouraged to make a claim for an inquiry at the time.
Declined.
Eighteen months on, brings it to the press.
PM now insists on an investigation.
She says she will comply.

In this weeks daily Johnson apologies we will be covering his birthday bash. He will show the usual insincerity at having been caught and claim it didn't happen until the photographs arrive ... this will form the basis for tomorrows insincere apology.

I am sure that his pathetic deflection attempt at trying to sabre rattle at Russia will be treated with the same contempt and amusement, by Putin, as the last time he tried it.

I just knew that the possibility of Russia starting a war in Ukraine was orchestrated by the Tories to distract from Boris's birthday. Good of the Yanks to join in.

Jolly inconsiderate of the Russians if you ask me. Do they not realise Partygate has been top of the agenda for weeks.

Finally.

The Met Police is to investigate ‘Partygate’, due to ‘information provided by Sue Gray’s team and the assessment of its own officers’.

I expect this means we no longer have to wait for Sue Gray’s report, but have to wait for the outcome of the police enquiry.

In other words, the charade in Downing Street rumbles on for several more months

Gill, it keeps this page going until cruising gets up to speed, then maybe we have a return to the main forum.
In the meantime party gate, the economy, Putins little spat, oh, and covid to get on with for now.

It should have been investigated long ago and partygoers fined just like everybody else if they had contravened the regulations. Then there would have been none of this nonsense.

Downing Street apart, I hate it when people who had a gripe save it up and then spit it out later, in some cases much later, when the evidence is gone, the trail is cold and memories are blurred. What were you doing Sir at 5 past 6 on 3rd May 2015? Ah you don't have an alibi. You must be guilty then.

Exactly Merv.
It’s pile in time. If this ex minister was so traumatised, why didn’t she take the opportunity when offered?
The minutes of the incident may well just show that she was bloody useless, like the majority of them.
Of course she’ll claim to be the victim of prejudice (fill in your own one)

Seems strange that after years of inactivity these people suddenly decide to go to the papers to report something which they should have reported to the authorities at the time. Of course there couldn't be an ulterior motive could there?
