I can't argue with any of that, but I still believe P&O will want their own site, within their own domain and control ... I think it would be fantastic though if they adopted this site ... run for P&O basically by a P&O fan club ... I believe phpBB has add-ons that could offer additional facilities as well.towny44 wrote:Ken, At present this forum is as specific to P&O as their's was, especially in the way that David has designed it. Personally I cannot think of any reason why it could not be "handed over" to P&O, even if David continued to administer it, I imagine his fees would be lower than P&O's IT section costs.
I wonder if anyone on the P&O IT management team have viewd this forum, if they have then they ought to recognise how much better it is than anything they ever had, and they ought to be able to recognise the benefits it could provide.

Would be so good of they did adopt it - who knows what goes on in the minds of P&O Admin - maybe they will?

Re: So will the P&O Forum come back......
The problem is, in part, self inflicted ... if P&O break the Logon Links with Passenger Account detail then it will very easy to introduce a replacement, they will know that of course but the question that may concern them is the cost of Administration.
For this reason they may tighten up the t&c's and strip out any Forum that is non essential to the business, that decision would be the price we may all have to pay for the Trolls who caused so much disruption ... and Administration.

I have a cunning plan ! I think it is a fair assumption that P&O will not adopt this site but, until (and if) their own version is ressurected, maybe we can persuade them to add this to their list of free sites, available on board the fleet so at least we will have unlimited access whilst at sea.
That'll work !

I didn't say it wasn't
Well it's two weeks today since P&O put the update on their fb page, I wonder how they are doing
I had a quick look on fb last night hardly a name I recognised which for me proves the point that this is the sort of forum people want, I'm sure fb has it's place just not for me and many others so it would seem, just 3 more members and we hit the 300 mark that's pretty good going in less than a fortnight.

it is brilliant I agree.
I also agree about fb..it does have its place, but It doesnt work well for forums IMO.
People seem to want the community, the search facilities.
P&O have made a huge mistake by letting it go.
We on the other hand have gained a fab forum !!

Latest news
P&O Cruises Hi Howard. We still have a website, it is just the community section that is not working at present. We're hoping to have some news on this very soon. Thank you.

I miss it in some ways, like the blogs and reports direct from the ship, but I don't miss the general pain and annoyance of actually using the forum.
I don't think I'd go back unless I was 100% sure it was fully functional.

Even if/when it comes back I doubt that I would switch back to it for general day to day chat, and I am sure David will sort us out a link to the new community forum so that if P&O still allow free access on board to the community we will have a quick link to check blogs and reports.Gill W wrote:I miss it in some ways, like the blogs and reports direct from the ship, but I don't miss the general pain and annoyance of actually using the forum.

This forum is far too good for us to let it die even when P&O sort out their community site.

Agree 100% towny, I'd been a member of the P&O site for about 6 years and in all that time we never had anything half as good as this
we've also got admin that when a question is asked they actually answer

So far there has been a good feeling about this site and long may it continue.
And what a refreshing change not to have missing posts, or the site hanging so you never know whether a PM has gone or not, problems in logging in, being constantly logged out etc etc. David has done a marvellous job in organising the site and ensuring it runs smoothly.
And those who post deserve credit for joining in with banter, serious debate and a sharing of information. I don't know what David's plans are when/if P&O restart their forum but to be honest I am very happy with this offering.

Well, that came as a total shock, bearing in mind their earlier promise of news "by the end of the week". S'pose it is news of a kind, though so let me not be too uncharitable !Dancing Queen wrote:Latest update from P&O ...about an hour ago.
