just to clear things up we did book this cruise on opening of bookings and paid just over £6000 but owing to me getting cancer in my eyelid and heart problems and wife having to wait for a double hernia operation we had to pay £100 and rebook twice, I finally had my eyelid cut of and replaced last august and the wife had her operation las December so we had a look at the price about a week ago but we had booked a DE LUX Balcony and at the time of looking there where only 2 left at the prices I said so we paid the balance and arranged insurance £1850 but you can not take it with you so whilst still in travel agents we booked another cruise on ARCADIA FOR A ADULTS ONLY CRUISE next year this one was just over £5000 so not so bad we also booked a Fred Olsen cruise on Balmoral for september next year.

Hi poole boy, it sounds like you both deserve a good holiday, or even three - I echo what Ray has posted.

Our sentiments exactly, do it while you can. Insurance cost a bit of a shocker but it has to be done.

So sorry to hear of you health issues but hopefully now behind you and you can look forward to that cruise and another two to follow. Enjoy.

If you need any tips on the Scottish ports just drop a something on here, it may be 40 years since I left Scotland but I have been back often so hopefully am still in touch with what is what.

Hi Poole boy I know that experience for insurance as my husband has cancer (terminal) but we were able to get insurance at reasonable price using
" insure with" I say reasonable but still expensive but as you say can't take it with you and it's great to get on a cruise:)

Having very unexpectedly losing a few friends over the last couple of years, our mantra has certainly become ‘do it while you can’
We unfortunately lost a good friend on Xmas day of all days on a Saga cruise.
They were absolutely fantastic with our friend the widow.
She said that they couldn’t have done anymore than they did, which is reassuring.

I suppose that’s why we seem to be looking at different types of holidays.
