Certainly not, there are several other Cruise Lines who can provide the Port intensive variations that P&O seemingly cannot.
Have you checked out Adonias little tour of the Carib in Feb 2015?

Me I like a good mixture. Too many ports in too few days and I'm worn out! Not the relaxing holiday I desire! :relaxed:
We have indeed, Adonia is our favourite ship and we have already been on her a number of times and in a number of guises ... there are more in the pipeline, albeit Getaways if possible. Our holidays are actually intended to be high octane-ish as we can relax or sleep if need be when we get home again :relaxed:

Back to the OP ... as well as cruising we have done land tours and Hotel stays in Venice, Rome, Lisbon, Barcelona, Palma, Florence ( Livorno ) etc and so have no need to do so again as the itinerary, rather than the ship, is our driving force.

Therefore, first time cruising routes do not appeal to us at all. Given that there are so many of these cruises it follows that the First Time Cruiser is getting most of the attention from P&O.

ps ... I stress ' OUR ' holoidays as ' Poole Boy ' will also doubtless go where he wants to go even if I had said any different

Why should we go to Rome every year just to please P&O ?

I did use the word "completely" Moby. Some updates are desirable and achievable and do happen.

However, to take your specific Rome example, no-one forces you to cruise the Western Med every year! We've not yet done the Western Med and will be very hacked when we do off if Rome has been omitted because a small proportion of the passengers aboard cruised frequently and didn't want to go again.

We may have to agree to differ on this one, unless you fancy pistols at dawn on the beach of some Italian resort neither of us have heard of!

I suggest Stromboli ... but only after you have been to Rome, it would be a great shame to miss it.

Many years ago we were sat on deck with a group of friends passing Stromboli and I suddenly saw the top of the island light up - I shouted out but when they turned around it was dark again. This happened a few times and they all thought I had had too much to drink  as if  then at last they saw it for themselves. First time I've thought of that in years - incidentally wasn't on a P&O ship - it was with Celebrity.

our first cruise with PandO was to the Fjords on Ventura, I would not say we were made to feel special or that they did anything to make our first cruise special
we felt just the same as any other guest on board, we have been back to Pand O once but now realise there is a whole raft of companies to choose from and we will try other companies and compare the pros and cons of each but I cant say PandO treated a first timer specially

My first cruise was a standard West Med itinerary, although it didn't include Rome.

It was also a 'newcomers' special, and people new to P&O got a few extra perks including a cocktail party.

This was 2001, so there have been a lot of changes since then. I wouldn't say it made us feel special, but it was nice.
