Well today I received my copy of the new brochure so that I can see more detail of the Christmas cruise I've booked  No sign of the magazine though.

I must admit I wasn't sure about the layour of the new brochure but now I've thumbed through it a few times I'm getting used to it and think it ain't bad.

Trouble is a lot of us remember back to when there were only three ships, t'interweb was a thing techies used, prices were fixed from the first day on sale until sailaway, and the brochure was able, and needed, to carry page by page full details of every cruise, because it was, for most people, theonly resource.

Now with eight ships and flexible pricing a direct replication of that format would be bigger than the large print edition of War and Peace and out of date on day two, and t'interweb is there to flesh out the detail. If you don't have access to it your TA does. I think on balance it works for me.

The only thing I don't like is the pretty generic plans of the cabins, which we know in reality vary quite a bit in detail from ship to ship.

Having waffled my way through all that, my preferred method of use is still to go straight to the back pages and look at the summaries for each ship.

We haven't had a brochure so a couple of hours ago I emailed P&O to ask why ( impressed at how quickly they responded ) I must admit I am surprised by their reply of course I fully accept that I have not cruised with them since 2010 and if those are the rules then so be it but as someone who did 2/3/4 cruises a year with them from the early 90's until 2010 wouldn't you think they would be more interested to know why they are no longer my chosen cruiseline .. I suppose they might just assume I am now 'pushing up daisies' :o

Good Afternoon Mrs xxxxxx

Thank you for your email to the P&O Cruises Peninsular Club. Firstly, I'd like to comment on what a lovely background your emails have :)

I am sorry to learn that you have not received the latest edition of the Our World Magazine and the new P&O Cruises brochure. I can confirm that our marketing department have not manually been removed from our mailing list, although our systems are set up to only send mailings to passengers who have actively cruised within the last 3 years with P&O Cruises. Our records show that the last cruise taken with us was in December 2010. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

I am pleased to confirm that I have arranged for a 2015-2016 P&O Cruises brochure to be sent to your home address, this should arrive within 3-5 working days. I have also sent you a copy of the edition 7, Spring 'Our World' magazine which should arrive with you shortly.

If you have any further questions or queries please visit the 'How Can we help' section of the P&O Cruises website by clicking on the following link - https://ask.pocruises.com/help/. Alternatively please contact us for further assistance.

We hope to welcome you back on board with P&O Cruises in the near future.

Kind regards,

Danielle | P&O Peninsular Club | Carnival UK

I appreciate sending out brochures is expensive, but isn't there a logic in at least sending the summary to people who haven't cruised for a while? Isn't that the way to increase custom, rather than bombarding those who have already booked five cruises before Christmas?

I haven't David but then I didn't need any help I just wanted to know if I was/wasn't getting a brochure nothing changes then

Ray, the explanation was actually a joke because I get regular mailings from P&O but obviously not worthy of a brochure

We've never sailed with Saga, or holidayed with them. The only thing we ever had was car insurance but cancelled it in year 2 when they failed to honour their price promise. But rarely a day goes by without us getting something from them.

We eventually got ours last week, not certain if it was due to being a Peninsular member, the on-line order or the e-mail I sent a few days earlier to the loyalty address complaining we hadn't had one. But since you don't get a confirmation e-mail and seldom get a reply from P&O anyway, I guess we will never know.
Still no sign of the magazine though.

We received the magazine plus the thin copy of the brochure - no full version with ship plans etc. in. I've requested a brochure online so I'll see what happens. I wonder why some people get sent the full version and others the thin one - it's not because we haven't cruised recently - we've just returned from a back to back, going on Adonia in September and have just booked for a Canaries cruise in January. Maybe they think we don't need a brochure!
