You may be right but we booked it for the simple reason, bizarre I know, that we've had starboard ever since we went to Venice. We decided it was best for the sail in there and have stuck with it since. On most trips we simply don't know and it's pretty random in port which side will be best. So we stay on starboard so we know that as we come out of the cabin we turn left for dinner and right for the theatre! The only time since that we've been on portnwe kept getting halfway to the wrong end of the ship before we remembered!

My main tip is to ensure you have a port balcony cabin as you have 8 consecutive sea days on the way out. Will think about any others but we did not do any excursions so cannot help in that direction.
Does one only have the sea on one side of the ship on such cruises ?

ps .... welcome back

I am back now, so what have I missed?
Shiney, I cannot vouch for the veracity of the story but it did come from varying sources, a couple were arguing and he tried strangling her, and was then put ashore in Martinique, flown under arrest to Paris then to London, but she stayed on board. Make of that what you will.
DK, it was quite exciting finding a free wi fi hotspot so not boring at all.
Welcome home! I like this picture of Ventura setting off last night after they had dumped you off

One other point I forgot to mention, the winner of a Macmillan cancer raffle got to paint the final little bit of the funnel blue, this had been left as the rest of the funnel was painted in the new livery, apparently the last ship in the fleet to complete the repainting.
Have you all noticed my returning present to you all, I seem to have brought back some Caribbean sunshine with me?

They seem to like painting the funnels on a transatlantic. They did Aurora's on the way back on the cruise before ours. Probably a nice jolly for the contractors doing the work.

Three things cats know in an instant, no matter how we try to act casual and disguise it, when they are going to the vet, cattery and when it's time for their worming/flea treatment.
Just heard that Jolson's had his op - he seems to be OK and 'Er Indoors can pick him up at 4:50. There'll be one stroppy puddy when I get home !

Probably. A tickle behind his ears mind be out of the question unless you have the chain male gloves on. Glad to hear he's OK.

Just realised that due to an administrative error on my part we are actually on the port side! So we will get lost going to dinner but we will be sun kissed on the way out!

I'd have paid rather more to be able to paint it Buff again!!

Not the way you want to end your holiday - though at least he probably didn't have to pay his own air fare back! :-)

Have to disagree with you Notso, the new colour looks far more regal than than the old rusty looking buff, and strangely everyone we spoke to also agreed.

There'd be an outcry if P&O announced a change to buff funnels!

They spent all that money in 2012 celebrating 175 years of heritage - only to disregard it a few years later in favour of a tacky rebranding. It would have been better to have spent the money on something of substance, but in the corporate mind 'image' is everything these days. Still, having seen the new Princess ship, at least we should be thankful for small mercies.
