What a difference a week makes, last week we had the heating on and were grateful for some evening sun to warm the bedroom; this week we have all the windows open and the curtains drawn to try to cool the house down.

I don't like it this hot. Roll on tomorrow when it cools down. The trouble is its all or nothing, we never get a chance to gradually get use to these temps.

Nice if you can cool down in a pool or the sea but otherwise I prefer it 5+ deg cooler.

It's alright for you bunch of layabouts. I've been cutting a hole in the ceiling at my daughtet's house for a decent sized loft hatch. Given this is an old house with a lath and plaster ceiling and 100 years of accumulated dust, soot and rubble it was a messy business. Suffice to say when I was finished my daughter asked if I could do a quick chorus of "Mammy". It was a choice of that or a d**k Van Dyke number from Mary Poppins!

A new, quality mattress, if the existing one is over ten years old, would be a better investment than the extended wine rack you'd be looking for

When we were having our extension built (hence no cruise this year) the brickies always referred to the mortar as their 'compo'
