I noticed that there was another graduate from the Abbott school of mathematics on QT last night. Angela Rayner said that 60% of our trade goes to the rest of the world and 44% goes to the EU!
I did notice that David........its a frightening thought to think that she along with Abbott could hold cabinet positions should Corbyn ever come to power.

Nice evenly balanced QT last night - 1 leaver vs 4 remainers.
Let's just be thankful Laura Kuenssburg isn't taking over the chair cos that would be a disaster for the leave campaign.

If anyone is still wondering why Theresa May had to change tack seven months into the Brexit process then tonight's 'Question Time' gave all the answers. David Davis seemed out of his depth when responding to questions about Brexit...not sure if this was due to him not having a grasp of the issues or he just couldn't care less about it.

Embarrassingly awful.
"I welcome the approval of the EU-Japan economic partnership agreement yesterday, which could boost UK GDP by up to £3bn in the long run. Japan is a vocal defender of free trade and this agreement will form the basis of our new, stronger trading relationship as we leave the EU."
Disgraced former Defence Secretary Dr. Liam Fox, Secretary of State for International Trade & President of the Board of Trade.

Someone who thinks either we are not leaving, is incredibly stupid or doesn't know the Japanese (his job).

Embarrassingly awful.

Interesting answer on QT last night from Caroline Lucas representing the Green party and as the sole Green MP, herself, when asked in which ways were people now more informed if going into a People's Vote.........
stockpiling of medicines
backlog of lorries into Dover
Here is one who persistently, in the Commons and on TV, harps on about another vote but clearly has little idea why she wants it apart from wanting to overturn the result of the 2016 referendum, something I presume she wouldn't want to admit.
I was taught to be cautious

Hi foxy....l would be the first to say getting your head around some of the Brexit issues can be difficult but MP's should be far better clued up on such matters and it is becoming abundantly clear this isn't the case.

Heard at a recent Green Party meeting held in the local phone box

How about another vote guys ?
We could call it 'The People's Vote' and it could be open to ALL eligible voters.
I've even got an idea for the question.

How about
Leave the EU
Remain in the EU

All you need to do is put a cross in the box.

Then when Leave wins again, would could repeat ad infinitum until the losing side get their way.

As an aside, the PM could tour the country telling all who will listen that a vote to leave is a vote to leave the customs union and the single market. You know, a bit like the last one did.
We could even roll out some old political has beens who could tell us that the end of the world is nigh and it will all end in oblivion.

This time, we might even be able to encourage enough under 25's to pull their tired little snowflake bodies out of bed and get Mum or Dad to drive them down to the polling booth.

What do we want --- People's vote
When do we want it -- well, err! some time in the future as long as it's on a day that's convenient

What a terrible shame that she didn't start off like this Keith, instead of trying to placate them and be everyone's friend.
Too little too late I'm afraid for Teresa.

What would focus their minds is if she makes a statement to the country saying that she has done her absolute best but cannot negotiate an amicable WA agreement.
She should say the nation, prepare for a No Deal Brexit and mean it.
No WA. No bribe money. No backing down.
After March, when the world hasn't come to an end, we can start sensible negotiations with the EU, should they wish to, on behalf of their member states.
Let's put an end to this farce once and for all.

Could any of the enlightened posters on here explain how a NO Deal Brexit, which seems to be what the EU are obviously pushing us towards, solves the problem of the border in Ireland?
Anyone?

Hi Barney,

I understand your view point as it is one that l held myself... that was untill the time l realised that getting out of the EU wasn't just a matter of saying "stuff you, take it or leave it". There are several links that clearly demonstrate why crashing into WTO terms would be very harmful to our economy. It could be argued that an agreed transition period would lessen this effect but that is presuming the remaining 27 EU countries would agree to such an arrangement without significant concessions e.g free movement of people etc. Then there are the thousands of schedule' tariffs etc to sort out, not least having to negotiate deals outside of the EU block which could take months if not years to get up and running.

All this talk about saving ourselves 39 billion is farcical.....why? Because we owe a large proportion of that money due the commitments already made. How do you think the EU would react if we just said "up your, we're not going to pay"?...I don't think we are legally bound to hand over the monies but it wouldn't do our future trading negotiations much good if we didn't cough up what we owe....would it?

As for Theresa May taking a different stance from the beginning?... l don't honestly think we would be any further forward whichever route we took out of Europe.

Keith

P.s l'll read your link latter as l'm off out for a curry.

Look at that clip that Leave.eu posted, encouraging far right thugs to the streets. Proud of standing up to an ambulance.

When it comes to those kind of people too right I'm belligerent.
