Probably not much in the way of scanning today - schools visit this morning to the museum, now trying to catch up with income receipts, another visitor to the museum ( who happens to be an old acquaintance, so it was good to catch up with him), then the first of several workmen coming in later to give a quote for some work we need doing.

As for being sharp, still recovering from the other night when I had to take the Lady C to casualty, didn't get to bed until 0130 , so the level of sarcasm and facetiousness may not be up to my usual standards....

She was cleaning a hand-dryer at work and the coating (don't know if it was paint or plastic) was coming away from the casing. A fragment, some 2-3mm across, got wedged deep under her thumbnail and she couldn't get it out. As the machine was dirty, she was more worried about infection. We had to wait in A&E for over three hours before someone could see to her. They had to cut away part of the nail, right down to the quick, to get the fragment out. They didn't numb it first, as they said the injection would be more painful than the procedure. She's fine now, but we're both knackered.

It puts me in mind of when my father in law shut my thumb in the taxi door and then drove off. My nail went black and fell off almost straight away, but being a woman I just smiled sweetly and carried on
