4. Member's Profile
a. For both the site and member's security Cruise Community operates a policy whereby a member is required to change their login password every 180 days.

Could you clarify the above please David, do we receive a message stating our password requires updating or would we just be unable to login.

What David didn't point out is that you must enter your password while standing on your head ... for security purposes.

Blimey...those rules seem "hard". A few are open to interpretation, like who judges what a "troll" is, some are obvious (to me anyway) but others are crafty & are good at getting others to do their work! I think the one about not posting for a period of time is quite good but may discourage those who just like to read things for information or help. My SIL for instance, never posts anything but says she likes to look at posts & pictures...mind you so did Gary Glitter! One that intrigues me is the one where we are not allowed to contact other members by whatever means in an offensive way...I'm sure nobody would, but say you had a row with someone on a ship & it turned out they were a member? or a difference of opinion as a meet up on board? I was virtually stalked by someone on one cruise, the person took great delight in recounting my movements & even what clothes I wore, odd people about.

I think the maximum size a photo can be included in a post is rather limited 200 x 200. :(

That shouldn't be a problem as you don't need to log in to be able to read, you only have to log in to be able to post :)

John are you being serious .. NEVER EVER let your broswer fill in passwords automatically (especially for banks or personal sites). If you want to do that install something like 'LastPass'. Most such sites these days will not automatically complete passwords.

My party trick is usually being able to tell people their most private passwords within 30 seconds of logging onto their computer ... because they let the browser auto-fill them in and browsers do NOT hold them securely. Worse still is they use the same or similar passwords for all their sites .. that is just as stupid as using the same PIN number for all your credit cards.

Read and inwardly digested.

I see some tweaks and some additions which seems to tighten things up and I'm all for that. :)

I have just read all the rules and I'm a bit scared that I may do something wrong!

I'm not very "tecki" sat here with my IPad . I had no idea what an Avatar was until I joined this forum. I just thought it was a blue person from a film (did there used to be one on P&O forum. I remember an "avatar " of one I think?)

What does a Moderator have to do?

One of the rules says you haven't to show off. I'm sorry, but I sometimes show off about 'our Charlie' one of the Headliners. If I need to be told off, will I get a pm ? :o

It isn't that sort of showing off .... it relates to promotion of another Cruise site that you are the owner / founder of :)
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

I wouldn't worry hgb, I'm sure we will all make mistakes and post in the wrong place or repeat ourselves occasionally and even brag about the odd thing ( without even realising we are doing it ) I think I remember your posts about "your Charlie" and I think it is perfectly acceptable to be a proud parent :D

I think it is probably more about anyone that goes on and on and on and doesn't know when sometimes it is just better to bow out gracefully without having to have the last word or at least that is how I interpret it.

I'm sure you will be fine and do keep us updated about Charlie :D

Ok - have inwardly digested the rules - can we reuse an old password after the 180 days next is up and can you remind us what our passwords are if we forget. Sorry Ken - all my passwords are variants of the same although not the bank ones (you will not be getting your hands on my money lol)
