I'm also very keen to get advice on this as I have in mind November 2016 for a Nile cruise

I want to do a week cruise, a week beach (to get some scuba diving in)

Any advice on what to go for and what to avoid would be most welcome.

Go for the best .... Riverboat ' Tosca ' with ' Uniworld '

Haven't been on it but we knows a few wot has.

Reputable Tour Operators are presently holding back with their tours to Egypt, land based as well as Riverboat, due to the uncertain nature of the place. The Master Plan of one major Brand is to re-visit the position in April 2015 ... I would suggest that you do the same.

It's something we have on our list - but not until the situation in the region is more stable.

When we were in General Practice, we found that most patients, almost without exception, returned with nasty tummy upsets, some very nasty and very long lasting indeed. Because of this, my husband has refused to consider a Nile Cruise.

That's another reason for us Gill - I know someone who returned from that area and then suffered from very severe 'stomach problems'.

Two points.

1. Having stayed recently in some of the Oberoi properties I notice that they have a Nile river boat. I have no idea about prices/itineraries but if you want a top level of service, and no individual tipping, then I would suggest looking at them - if you can from the UK.

2. To prevent "upset tummies" try taking probiotic tablets
