Sindhu Restaurant

Have never dined here, hence the question. Worth it or don't bother?

Great, thanks.
Just seeing if our two travelling companions want to go as well and then I'll book it. It'll be our 35th wedding anniversary the first night on board so thought it would be nice to do something like that.

Should be worth a few browny points ;)

Eaten here three times, IMO the lunch menu is the best, never really had a stand out main course for dinner, the curries in the buffet are far more to my liking.

Don't think of Sindhu as just a curry. It's much more than that. Not a vindaloo and lager in sight.

No, not normally.

It's ok for a change but nothing special, in our view.

I totally agree about the buffet. Unfortunately on our last cruise (very last!) on Aurora the food was dismal and the curries especially were blander than a bland thing from the planet Bland on a bland day. Also, on a 19-night cruise there was no tandoori night!!!

Yes but I do like something with a bit of flavour, maybe my choices were just poor, so in future I will save the money and have a couple more drinks.

I agree about trying the Nashta at lunch time too. And you don't need to book for that.

It depends on how close to the booking it is. I think that if it is less than 24 hours then you still pay.

We liked it and went twice on our last cruise - must say the first time the choices were superb but we found the duck meal we chose the second time to be quite chewy. The beef tenderloin was lovely.

Had a free bottle of wine the 2nd time to tempt more people in!!

A lovely experience and well worth the money.

We used to enjoy the Orchid very much and have not been on Arcadia since it changed, but we will be in October. How do they compare?

You cannot really compare them - although they are not dissimilar.

The service is about the same, but then again it would be as it is the same staff. There are no noticeable changes to the decor. The food is more "Indian" than "Asian" and equally as good, but that is very much down to choice and taste.

Thanks, David, and is what was the Orchid Bar still much the same? A must for pre-dinner cocktails.

Yes - although at Christmas when we were there it was somewhat under used which resulted in there not being many/any staff there at times.

P.S. - they still have the spicy rice crackers

Just mention my name to Thanka, the current Head Waiter in Sindhu on Aurora.

......I am sure you will be politely asked to leave !

For what it's worth, it's our favouorite select dining venue too. Well worth the surcharge. A whole different experience. Enjoy !

Rest assured QB your name will not darken my lips. I don't fancy spit in my meal

He's a good chap, that Thanka. He was a head waiter in the MDR on Adonia last year and he is now ruling the roost in Sindhu.
