I cut out sugar years ago. I tried cutting down from two to one spoon of sugar, then thought if I'm cutting down to one I might as well cut it out altogether. As you say DQ, you soon get use to it.

I just eat the biscwuits and cakes now

I use to know someone who had at least five sugars in his tea/coffee. Don't know if he's still alive. But I bet Tate & Lyle would be keen to get their hands on him for recycling if he's no longer with us.

In the 1970's one of my customers was British Sugar Corpration, and woe betide you if you were seen not to take sugar in your tea when visiting Cantley, or Bury st Edmunds' factories.

I'm afraid that I have had a weakness for cakes and bicuits for most of my life, and I wonder if my addiction to McVities plain choc digestives should be a notifiable disease, with NHS treatments available. Staying off them has been very painful when I have been trying to lose weight.

Ooooo, it has to be McVities Frank, like it always has to be Heinz with me.

Sue, apart from personal health I cannot think of a better incentive. I am sure the men in your life take care of the boys but all the girly things you have to look forward to with your Granddaughter.

Hi Suespud,

I've been trying to think of an achievement award that expresses the effort that must have gone into losing that amount of weight. There's no point in sending you a "crate" of celery sticks as they have a very short shelf life so l've decided to send you all the monies donated to the onelife cruise appeal as an alternative.. do you need a tissue? Well you'll need one when you receive it

Sue.....l can't think of a better incentive than giving yourself the best chance possible of many more happy years with your grandchildren.

Well done you

Keith, I feel your pain at having to eat those quarter pounders - how upsetting for you. :sarcasm:

Luckily, we didn't have our Saturday night wine and chocolates with friends last night. It's going to be tonight instead so I'm pleased to weigh in this morning as it is obviously going to be worse tomorrow after a binge tonight. I have lost a measly 4 ounces and the scales are showing 142 lbs but I'm grateful for that as we had some Magnums in the freezer and they seemed to have disappeared - can't think where they went.

Keep going pinchers and well done to Suespud.

Good morning pinchers,

I've decided to introduce a new term into the pinch-an-inch diet, something that fits nicely inbetween weight gain an weight loss so l've come up with "hovering" which as it implies is a term that can be used ( give or take 3 ounces) either side of what your scales should be reading.

As Jo has said, the last few lbs are the hardest so we must stay strong pinchers and not beat ourselves up about it if we find ourselves "hovering" for the odd week or two.

So Maureen its a big well done from me because 4 ounces doesn't fit into the hovering definition so you can flutter away to your hearts content.

Before l tell you how l have done l just want to say...." No " l didn't put my fingers down my throat last night" but the quarter pounders havn't as yet found their way to my scales so l've just weighed in at 12 stone 2lbs which equates to another lb loss this week....to date that means l have lost 22lbs with 6 to go.

Stay strong pinchers and remember...." words of caution, eat smaller portion"

Regards

Keith

P.s Sue l can't promise that l'll be joining you in your terrific effort to lose another 3 stone but l/we will certainly be here to encourage you along the way.

I know I don't report in often, but I've now lost almost a stone since mid-Jan, through a mixture of slightly more sensible eating, less weekday drinking, and a visit or two to the gym per week. Only 1.5" off my widest part which is a tad disappointing, but my fitness is hugely improved, and I feel better for it. If only we didn't go to the cricket club on a Sunday and drink loads of beer, I'd have lost more, I'm certain! Hoping to lose at least a couple more lbs before we go on holiday in early May, but we have a 4 day break in a foodie hotel in Scotland at Easter first - which may prove to be a challenge. Hoping for some decent weather so we can go on some strenuous walks.

Keep up the good work, everyone.

Hi Romig.

As l've always said the onelife pinch-an-inch diet is open to anyone even closet dieters like yourself

I have to say l'm surprised to hear that you've been on a diet as the last time we met my wife comented on what a handsome well groomed, fit young gentlman you were... Oh and since we last met you'll be pleased to hear that my wifes cataract operation went well.

Well done Romig and do pass on my best wishes to your gorgeous wife Wina.
