Anyone been to Cobh/Cork?

Yes, Em, I was just being pedantic. It wasn't really a port call, just a 90 minute stop to pick up mail and swap a few passengers.of course, if she'd stopped for a few minutes longer...

I would be happy enough to pay for a taxi to Kinsale but not to Blarney as this for us was of limited interest consisting as it does of a walk from the Car / Coach Park to the Castle n back with a likely visit to their ' average ' Woollen Mill Outlet included for lunch and the Gotcha Shop.

Cork is a dead loss bar the cathedral, imo.

Yes, until you get the price!!! Do you have any idea how difficult it is to get to Kinsale on your own? I researched this extensively. Never saw a taxi at Cobh as the train station is so close to the berth and Kinsale is not on the train line, not when we went, anyway.

I reckoned that - nothing wrong in a bit of pedanticity! Anyway, when we were there, there was a display of which showed images of what the scene might have looked like with people boarding tenders and people saying goodbye - quite moving.

As you say - if only the ship had waited for a few stragglers (like cruise ships often do nowadays) then things might have been altogether different.

The price for a pre-booked taxi would, I estimate, be in the order of £100 including waiting time at Kinsale ... If P&O ran the trip it would be approx £90 for two people.

A cheaper option is for four persons to share the taxi of course.

If we're being pedantic Robert, Titanic picked up 123 passengers in Queenstown (now called Cobh) so was very much the last port of call, even if it did involve a little tendering
