P&O Miltary Discount

Unread post by June1969 »

I have just read on another Forum that P&O are starting to do Discounts for Service Personnel and Veterans same as on other Carnival lines.

Full details are on P&O how can we help- Do you offer military discount

It comes as OBC and varies by cruise duration

The amount of on board credit per person, is applicable for the 1st and 2nd passengers only and depends on the duration of the cruise:
2- 6 nights - £15 per person
7-13 nights - £30 per person
14-21 nights - £75 per person
22 nights + - £125 per person

Sounds good to me.

Come on Silver Shiney, here's an added bonus.

The full details can be found here.

These OBC amounts don't look overly generous to me - but as they say - "every little helps".

Personally I do not agree with this policy as there are many other deserving occupations that should be included but are not.

You need to read the whole article. What is missing from the post is that it comes in for new bookings made AFTER the 15 May 2014. Bookings before that date will not count.

So, all the bookings from March to May for the new 2015-2016 brochure are not included. So, I miss out for booking early.

In my opinion it should have started with the new brochure, but at least it is a step in the right direction with many other cruise lines offering this including Cunard.

It depends on the criteria

If it is to with being a "dangerous" occupation then you could/should include police and fire officers for example.

If you are talking of being away from family for long periods then there are many who would qualify.

I think that you have to remember that everyone who is in the military, as in any other occupation, is doing it from choice and there are many "perks" attached to being in the military.

(And no it is not "sour grapes" as we have two close family members in the military - one who recently came home from nine moths at sea and another who is just about to come home from 12 months in the USA.)
