P&O Community Website
The Community web page has been down for nearly 3 weeks with no update information. Beginning to wonder if it will ever be back. Does anyone have an update or more info?

I'm certain P&O won't bring it back. I agree - who needs it. I never understood why they had it. It must have cost them a fortune in lost internet fees

Re: P&O Community Website
This site is fantastic and long may it continue. What I miss from the Community Forum is reading people's experience while on board. I find it really interesting following a cruise and hearing about the places visited, the tours taken and happenings onboard. We could post without charge while on one of the P&O ships which is why we got such good reports. That now will not happen and that I do miss.

Hi PtE, I think I would be hallucinating if I managed to get back on the old P&O forum - I can't see it ever happening.
I could be really wrong and out of order and very wide of the mark, but with all the resources that Carnival/P&O have at their disposal I have started to think that their forum simply won't reappear.
Meanwhile, this is a lovely forum, and I am truly grateful to those responsible.

Re: P&O Community Website
whilst I agree with everyone about this excellent forum, I to do miss the cruise reports, (although can see the reason, re internet charges being lost). I also miss a lot of the contributers, who for what ever reason have either decided not to join this site or are unaware of it.
As there is a link on this site to be redirected to P O website why not the reverse on their 'sorry the site is unavailble' advertise this site.
I'm sure that a lot of people do not use facebook, and therefore would not know of this sites existance.

I wish they would too but it would be a tad ironical given that P&O banned a Member for highlighting his site on theirsvalerie wrote:... As there is a link on this site to be redirected to P O website why not the reverse on their 'sorry the site is unavailble' advertise this site ...

Yes, but this is a slightly different case, bearing in mind this site is a direct replacement for P&O's non-functioning dinosaur.
I did suggest before that whilst their site is down they coudl allow free access to this site on board then we could post and pm as before. Petition to P&O anyone ?!

Nope ... they won't go for it and if they did then they would also have to advertise the unofficial Facebook site

They are very unlikley to do that, as I am thinking that is why they stopped it --They were monitoring who was logged in --the last cruise I was on --and I never bought one internet package !! SO THEY MUST HAVE KNOWN WE WERE ALL USING IT FOR OTHER PURPOSES -- So cutting down on revenue for the Intenet packages --the same would hapen if you were able to use this site F O C while onboard --Your family would suddenly become members and hey presto ---they would lose revenue again .
This site is far better than P&O's ever was and --if P&O had wanted to --they could have had a decent site by now !! The I T they should have --They just were never interested !!

Re: P&O Community Website
Like others, I muss the reports. Could we encourage the members to write reports on their return from cruising? Perhaps those on Worldies at the moment will tell us all about it on their return home. Jay

Re: P&O Community Website
If accessing the P&O site/Community was an issue then they would have turned the free access off long ago

I think the free access to the PO forum and the cruise reports did a lot of good for P&O. As its was a report "from the horses mouth" so good PR (most of the time)

I don't think having free access would be a reason to stop the forum coming back as people don't use the Internet on board because it is expensive per se.
I do though think that this forum is a good one and if they do something like this they will benefit as as others have said they have stopped looking around the P&O site as a whole, whether or not the figures bear this out is just speculation.
I too like reading the reports as well and getting advice form you all as the 'how can we help' doesn't always have the answers I want.
Melsea..

It's huge shame that people can't now contact their friends and family when they are onboard by using the P&O forum - I can remember a while back people listing cutbacks or things that passengers would have to pay for in future; but then would they make that much money by literally forcing people to pay for internet in order to keep in touch?

Nobody is forced to keep in touch via the onboard satellite link. There's plenty of places with free wi-fi at most ports and there's always mobile phones on roaming tariffs.Boris+ wrote:It's huge shame that people can't now contact their friends and family when they are onboard by using the P&O forum - I can remember a while back people listing cutbacks or things that passengers would have to pay for in future; but then would they make that much money by literally forcing people to pay for internet in order to keep in touch?

I think that the use of private groups for people keeping in touch with home for free had grown exponentially from the time it was first "advertised" by other forum members, and the vast majority of those using the facility were not active community members. Having said that, I really don't believe this had anything to do with the community site being taken down, nor the fact it hasn't returned yet.

Re: P&O Community Website
P&O have given us the reason why they took the site down so anything else is pure speculation being made up by people (even if it is qualified by someone apparently having it on good authority').
Even if they don't bring back the forum I hope they do still bring back the groups section for keeping in touch while at sea and the blogs section, because I enjoyed reading them.

Whatever the reason the thing I find rather reprehensible is that I don't think they have been totally honest about it

... and what evidence is there that they have not been honest?
They brought the forum back and within an hoor people were reporting issues with the web site so they took the forum back and web site seemed to get better again. I am guessing they are probably trying to unpick the forum totally from the web site.

There has been a problem trying to view the webcams this weekend so I still think they've got problems with the P&O site even though they've removed the Community Forum

I have been trying to look at webcabs as some friends are on various ships, back working now...or they were...
