Cruising secrets

#1

Post by Kendhni »

Since my 'P&O secrets' seemed to be popular on the old board. I think we should have a new 'Cruising secrets' for this board.

ON Azura: To access the front part of the prmenade deck, go in through the doors at the Playhouse, up one floor and past a few cabins ... you will find the door that takes you around the front of the ship.

Mine top tip is not to eat 10 burgers on a 13 night cruise. Clothing can appear to shrink.

A cheese course can be ordered IN ADDITION to a sweet.

Stilton will also be available, but you will probably have to ask for it, as it rarely gets on the cheeseboard.

On Oceana, Cafe Jardin is a good (and increasingly popular) place to take breakfast.

Oh... you mean that sort of secret.... :-)

For those of you that use the self service laundry there is one at the front of the ship which isnt on any of the maps.... I shall keep which deck a secret so that you can go in search of it to work off all the burgers that Romig has recommended that you eat...

Use the stairs whenever possible. Leaves the lifts free for those less able to walk (and the lazy folks) and will help negate the effects of all the available food.

Port has four letters the same as Left making it easier to remember, so when you're facing Forward (the pointy end) Port is to your left and Starboard is to your right. :)

Just don't call it the pointy end. ;)

There is a drawer under the sofas giving extra storage. (not under sofas that can be used as a bed)

Also don't forget that (free) Canapés are served in Anderson's (Adonia, Aurora & Oriana and in Intermezzo on Arcadia after 8.pm

The Orchid Bar on Arcadia has wonderful view to the front.

Magnum's is the place for the canapes, on Oceana.

On Azura and Ventura the exception to the rule are the glass lifts overlooking the atrium, when you exit these you will be facing aft (the rear of the ship). :)

On Adonia there is a jacuzzi at the front (in the spa area) where you can pay and have a bit of privacy and some sun beds, bathrobes etc and the waiters will come along to ask if you would like a drink. We didn't find out about this until it was too late, but could be ideal for some.

Pack a suitcase full of second paperback books AND an alarm clock (set for silly o'clock am). That way you can reserve all the sunbeds in both full sun & shade for all your friends & family..... only joking darlings! *Mwhah! *runs away very, very quickly....* ;) :D

Pack a multi-socket extension lead as some chargers will not fit into the sockets on some ships.

There's a small retractable washing line in the shower, if you do any handwashing, so a few pegs might come in useful and you can buy tubes of handwashing liquid onboard in the shops.

Strawberries dipped in chocolate are wonderful! But order them early in your cruise.
