The clue is in the word "for", dear sir. Take that out and you'll have your misinterpretation, leave it in and you'll have the true meaning, ie I was fighting her corner.

However, given her reaction, maybe it was a wasted effort
Nope, even with the "for" in, the picture I'm getting is still iffy!

Are you suggesting that SS might have had a small increase in pay?

Chance would be a fine thing. Had a small increase in my pension but not expecting a pay rise

You need to be up a bit earlier to get ahead of me Shiney boy, no matter how convoluted you make your posts.

No need for us leaders to get up early when you so generously reserve our place at the front for us Towny. Most kind. You can stand down now.

You're even later Merv, and therefore further behind and I wouldn't want you exerting yourself and causing a heart attack by trying catch up. :sarcasm:

No need to exert myself dear chap. I just surf on your bow wave and stay ahead effortlessly. Thanks for the push.

See I told everyone, Batty, that other ships are available and now you've found one. First Sleazy Cruise and now Calamity. Even the riff raff on Calamity are sofisitikated enough to wear M&S string vests instead of Poundshop. Get your rip offs booked before those posh Americans get them all.

Good news for us then! But you'll be back. Trust me. Meanwhile enjoyed Sleazy and Calamity.

p.s. I wonder if I can successfully start a rumour that Sleazy and Calamity are merging?

We have been sent 3 different brochure things form Pile it cheap and not one of the offers appeals to us, we will try Celeb, to see if its worth continuing with or go back to Thomson on the "newer" ships
Pile it cheap seem to be struggling to come up with interesting itineraries?

I know what you mean but I think it's the same with all the major cruise lines once you've done the various main options. The number of ports within reach of the UK geared for cruise ships is finite so maybe we have to do more fly cruising, which we're less keen on.

However, next year it's QM2 for us, which means flying back, because we specifically want to do the transatlantic into New York and stay for a while, and 2017 Caribbean with P&O, a destination we've never done. After that we fancy the Panama Canal, which could either be the first leg of a P&O worldie or a Princess Fort Lauderdale to LA, either way more flying.

By the time we've done all that we'll probably ready one of the familiar Southampton-Southampton jaunts again, or maybe another river cruise, or something completely different. There's a coast to coast US train trip that looks rather good. After all other means of transport are available!

We've done and can recommend Alaska. Also done Iceland, but thought you'd done that too. Would like to do Northern Lights but more likely to do that as a land trip. The unpredictability worries us that we could end up with a two week cruise in the cold and dark and see nothing! Having done a Rhine cruise the Danube and Douro are on our list too.

I thought I had suddenly come across a blog version of wish you were here with Judith Chalmers, but its just you two chatting about your holiday plans.
Incidentally Merv Thomson, or should we now say TUI cruises, are now closely linked with Celebrity since RCCL have a stake in TUI cruises.
