Stroppy git! I wasn't specifically referring to Southampton but anywhere within reach of said cruiser !

Anyhows, is there anything north of Birmingham ? According to the Daily Wail, it's a wasteland !

I am fairly sure Hull is within reach of many a cruiser, esp those who don't think the south is the be all and end all of the UK
how many cruise terminals are there in the UK, Soton, Liverpool, Grenock, Tilbury docks and Harwich?
Hardly proportional representation is it ?

there is a decent tidal variation from about 5 to 7.5 meters , depending on where you are along the estuary, but the proposed site would be the higher end of that range
the biggest issue is silt
It's the four tides a day that makes Southampton attractive for so many ships. But good luck to 'Ull. Competition can only benefit the consumer

Some cruise lines use Dover, which for many is even more tedious to get to!

Anything for us which involves the M25 is tedious!

To get to Hull from here is a bit of a cross-country zigzag but it wouldn't put me off

Any investment must be a positive, it will also take some of the strain from Soton, esp when there are 4-5 behemoths in on the same day and it will also spread the wealth and allow the "cold cruises" one less sea day

and it saves me have to mingle with Middle England and the all those southern softies ;-)

more to the point, it will reduce the incidence of marauding invaders coming south from 'ull

You'll be OK heading south as the border patrols will be "southern softies", but getting back past the other lot might be a different matter

My journey back stops 10 miles south of "the other lot" as you put it. :-)

Why? We're only allowing Notso through, not the peasants with crosses and burning pitchforks

.....and I was as far south as Bewdley last weekend, and that was via very Welsh North Wales. I even managed to call in at the Knockin Shop too!

A friend's aunt used to own that (the Knockin Shop, not North Wales or Bewdley!)
