The hard part is getting access to the nut fixing the supply pipe to the base of the tap. You need a very special spanner for it, and may have to disconnect the drain pipes to give a bit more working room.

Under the sink behind a few other pipes very awkward to reach! There's hope for me as I have been given an other phone number for a plumber. I'd rather pay to get the job done as I haven't got the right tools and may make it worse rather than better.....
