Hungarian Bull's Blood is actually quite commonplace ... albeit in the restaurants of Budapest.

Hands up who remember the ( rubbish ) wine with the brand name of ' Hirondelle ' ?

I don't suppose we had the Trade Description Act back then..

Tastes do change - we used to drink a lot of Mateus Rose. After a long break, we bougjt a bottle. Half a glass later, it went down the sink. St Panteleimon was another firm favourite. Too sweet for us now

That's odd - had a nostalgic moment at the weekend and nearly bought a bottle of mateus rose for my son's girlfriend birthday present as she drinks rose. Put it in the trolley and then decided perhaps not - settled for a bottle of Hardy's instead.

Never really liked red/rose wine - prefer sweet white -- sauternes when I can afford it!

TIP ... Mateus Rose with a large tuna steak plus tomato & onion salad, ideally in Madeira, is an excellent choice.
