Re: Last One to Post Wins
You're right Batty, never done Thomson. Why not? Well we like P&O so why gamble our money (and it ain't cheap) on something we might not like when we can spend it on something we know we do. And we simply don't like the look of the Thomson ships - one factor being a dire shortage of balcony cabins, which is our preference.
However, joshing apart, I know you did not like P&O as much as we did so can understand and respect you trying something else. Much better than staying put and whinging. Vive la difference, other cruise lines are available etc.
When Thomson have got some newer ships that we like the look of, and if we no longer enjoyed P&O so much, who knows?
We have tried other lines - Cunard, Princess, RCI and Calamity - but in each case preferred to return to P&O. We are back on Cunard next year to do QM2 across to New York and will almost certainly do Princess again to do the Panama. We thought RCI was fantastic, but not our style. We thought Calamity was over-hyped, and got bored with the constant self congratulation, but won't go into that again.
Quite happy for you to take your chip where you want to, and we'll take ours. Shame it's different places really because I'm sure it's your round.
By the way ours was Piat d'Or!

I understand your point about gambling your money on trying a different line only to find you don't like it 'cos we're a bit like that too BUT wasn't it just as big a gamble when you booked your very first cruise with whichever line?Mervyn and Trish wrote:You're right Batty, never done Thomson. Remember the advertising tagline "le French adore le Piat d'Or"? The French had never heard of it... Our tipple of choice back then was St Panteleimon (a semi sweet Cypriot white wine)

Not really. Then we gambled on something we thought we would like. And we had nothing to lose. Now we know we do like P&O and, rightly or wrongly, don't like the look of Thomson. It's a different gamble. But should P&O become less attractive and Thomson more attractive, who knows?

Just got back from doing our shopping bits and bobs and managed to do it without judging a single person, solely based on what they were wearing
