I'm confused. As usual. Is that Miss 'Ull or Miss 'Uddersfield.

Come to think of it, dressed like that she probably will get her uddersfield.

Off on a four night jaunt on Oriana today. I'm already at the terminal banging on the door shouting "am I too late for breakfast" :D

He may be in his cabin but his only view for a while is likely to be Southampton dockside if its as windy there as it is here, may end up a 4 day cruise to nowhere.

Just checked Marine Traffic App. At least the ship's in so he won't be sat in the terminal all day with his bag of crisps and flask of cold tea.

The next storm is due to hit the south coast later this afternoon. Stephen may not be going anywhere - certainly not to the lead here...

Sure are Merv. Had a arrival time of 2pm. On board by 11.50. Result

Got caught out in the lav though. Got my hands all soaped up only to find neither of the two basin auto taps were working. Panic!!! Used the disabled one in the end. Phew

Now relaxing in the crows nest with a beer

I'll hold onto the lead whilst you lot go off to rescue Notso.

Texted my son to be safe in Storm Desmond earlier as he is in Edinburgh - his reply 'Who's Desmond?

I live near Edinburgh as well and the weather is windy and rainy but so far not that unusual. The Fourth Bridge is closed, causing traffic problems....

The fourth one hasn't opened yet - it's the third one that has been closed.

Yes WE are thanks - but there's lots who aren't so fortunate. We have water coming in through a damaged flat roof, but we are high enough to be safe from the river - even if our garden is largely under standing water. The friends whose cat we gained after they were flooded in Jan 2005 have been flooded again. Indeed, from what I have seen on the news and on line, with a few hours still to go until peak levels, it looks like being nearly as bad as that year. One difference though is that the lights, while they were flickering on & off last night, are (at present) still on. Last time the whole city was without power for ~36hrs.

Morning all - just returned from a walk (why can't I have a dog who won't go out in the rain) - we are both absolutely soaked but thankfully unaffected otherwise by this awful weather  Good to hear that those living oop north are ok

About 10 minutes after I wrote that, the power did indeed go off. Fortunately it was a planned disconnection to re-route supplies away from the distribution centre that flooded last time - and may do so again. The supply to here was restored about an hour and a half later.

Windiest day of the year yesterday but only minor damage to a couple of greenhouse panes and the recycle bin blew over resulting in some soggy newspapers, Oh and our wicker Hare in the garden blew over along with the bird table. Could have been a lot worse.

I spoke too soon with that one. The police are warning that the whole city could still lose power if the two substations flood
