I was just beginning to enjoy being pinned to the back of a lift by a mobility scooter and I soon learned to wear Doc Martins around the ship after being run over a few times !

Surely you're not one of those elevator fascists who, either refuse to move to the sides to accomodate wheelchairs/scooters, or just stand there looking blankly around waiting for someone else to be the first to move out of the way.
You see Cubie there are two sides to every situation, and once you have a genuine need for a wheelchair its amazing how you change views.

There is nearly always room Alan, rarely do I see a wheelchair scooter user trying to enter a lift that is too full to accomadate him/her.

You two are clearly confused and deluded but I am here now and no doubt the noble Shiney is ready to join the leading elite shortly.

My favourite this time was in the glass midship lifts. Just Mrs C and I in it when a couple with a gent in a chair and a very sour-faced wife came in. Plenty of room so we stood to one side but not a glimmer of recognition from Mr and Mrs Sourpuss. At their floor, we indicated them to go first, at which he became really abusive and said "I need to turn the bloody chair round first, don't I ?!" Mrs S looked even more like a bulldog chewing a wasp so we left them to it !

Not passed his test in reversing then! But seriously there are miserable gits and nice people of all persuasions. No I wouldn't wish to be a wheelchair user and will always give them priority, but it's no excuse for rudeness either.

Absolutely, Merv. I always stand aside and let wheelchair users go in the lift first but I am afraid so many of them just expect it and very few even bother with a nod of thanks

Bit of a result at the Goldie lunch last week. Table hosted by TWO Headliners dancers - Ellen and Tara. I checked, but sadly there is not a nurse's uniform in the wardrobe department....yet !

I suggested eight - one for each of the female dancers and singers. Hope it gets fed back to HQ and we might get a nurse-themed show next time !!
