P&O Facebook

Unread post by CaroleF »

I have been looking at the P&O Facebook page recently - more a matter of curiosity than anything. I wonder why P&O appear to be so keen on it when a large majority of postings seem to be complaints! There's one on-going at the moment of someone complaining about their cruise and not happy with the response they had from P&O and are now threatening to go to the Press.

Several people have mentioned this forum as being "temporary" while the P&O Community Forum is down. Someone else said they didn't like this forum as it was stale and too heavily moderated!! Don't understand the comment - I think this Forum is great, so easy to navigate, so full of good information and advice and I definitely don't understand the "heavily moderated" bit - have I missed something?

Long may this Forum continue and, as I say I can't see the attraction of the Facebook page.

Carole,

I'd noticed a load of complaints on there recently too....but many are just a one line rant by people who want to get things off their chest but have no desire to actually engage with either the company or other FB members to explain what exactly was wrong.

I usually take those complaints with a pinch of salt.

P&O Admin do occasionally remove posts from that page, however.

I am probably the most guilty party for stressing the temporary nature of this forum - not cos there's anything wrong with it, but so that admin (P&O) don't think they're off the hook.

I've read the moderation complaints - am taking them with a pinch of salt. Yes there has been some stern moderation, but I liken it to a teacher with a new class - get really tough initially to assert the ground rules and then when everyone is settled things can ease back.

Yes, praps the odd mistake has been made along the way, but apologies have been made and lessons learnt

Carole, no matter where you go there will always be someone willing to moan, gurn and complain about anything and everything .. they are just very negative people and often try their best to drag everybody down with them. They come on and have their little vent and are never seen again ... if they actually had a serious problem then I am sure they would give proper factual explanations instead of just venting.

As far as a comment about this site being stale and over moderated .. they probably aren't the sharpest tacks in the box.

I have been looking at various Facebook forum groups including the P&O one and I did not even realise this one was a replacement. There have been so many groups trying to attract new users since the P&O decision that I just thought this was another until I finall gave it a try.
I do agree about the number of moaners on the P&O Facebook site but I find it quite readable, and ignore the usual 'P&O bashers' whenever possible. Now that I have come to this site, I might wean myself off some of the other fringe Facebook communities.
Now I must find a way of getting a picture to show who I am, or perhaps who I want to be.

Latest update from P&O on Facebook when asked about the Community Forum :(

"Hello everyone. Unfortunately we don't have any further updates today. We are considering a number of options , the pros and cons of each. Rest assured as soon as we have some news, we'll let everyone know. Thank you for your patience."

I'd have been more worried if they had posted something positive based on previous history - but on the other hand "No news is good news" may apply here

Not that I am one to start rumours but ... there was a totally unfounded rumour that David was seen hanging about dark passageways in P&O head office ... and the rumour that he has sold the site to P&O in return for a new Bentley have no basis in fact

He should have dug his heels in for a world cruise as well............... in a suite.

Also, be able to take the Bentley with him.

Well I was number 13 to join, so which 3 of the top 10 are going to drop out.

Have also been reading the P&O Facebook page, so they still have no idea, about the P&0 forum. If or when it will return.

What I find funny on the fb page is, one person is having a little dig, because what is being posted on fb is being transferred to this forum, yet the same person is posting what is being said on here to the fb page ?.

Still it was Sod's law that when David started this excellent forum, it would not please everybody.

You can please some of the people some of the time, but not all the people all of the time. :D ;)

Can't see why anyone would criticise this forum, maybe we don't all like all the people but the place itself works well.

Surely what is posted here is copyrighted to this forum?

Not really Wolfie ... if the site was to take ownership of the copyright then I would wonder if they would also take ownership of the responsibility for what is posted .. which it doesn't (and which is why everyone should be careful what they post on a public forum). It is different for commercial (and other) sites whereby editorial and paid works are the copyright of that site and reproduction would be a breach of copyright ... it is important to look at the copyright policy of any sites you use ... in most cases cutting out a few sound bites and providing a link to the original story is fine.

Anybody with any integrity will always acknowledge the original source.

Naturally we will aspire to lead the way and expect others to follow :-)
