What's not to like about it, then ?Stephen wrote:Sending LG TV back. Don't like it.
Cheeky s*ds at the store (Hughes) one of Tesco's partners wanted £50 to collect it. Have arranged to take it back to our local Tesco superstore. I had a look online at courier prices and I could get it picked up and delivered for around £12, so where those rip of merchants get £50 from I don't know.

Re: Last One to Post Wins
Didn't like the look of it. Way too many settings that I didn't have clue what half of them did. Manual!, what manual.
Decided for now to purchase a sound bar for our existing TV to overcome the problem with the base speakers. If truth be known, I still like the look of our current Panasonic TV. I think it's the very thin frames on modern TV's that I'm struggling to like.
Anyway the new TV went back to our local Tesco superstore last night, and the girl assistant couldn't have been more helpful and processed the refund there and then.

Hardly anything comes with a manual nowadays - how anyone who is not in the least IT-savvy is supposed to manage, I don't know. Afraid you'll have to get used to the look - they are all much the same now ! We have an LG and have no complaints. The picture is excellent, sound not brilliant but, again, that's pretty usual with the bog-standard built-in speakers

We like our Samsung. Pretty intuitive to do the basic things. Sound is okay. I'd buy a sound bar but Trish doesn't see the point.

Re: Last One to Post Wins
I'm looking at getting the BOSE Solo 5 Sound Bar, probably from Currys but am just waiting for a reply email from Bose support to clarify if I can connect it to my current TV.
At least as and when we are forced into buying another TV because our one gives up the ghost completely we will already have a sound bar to hook up.
All looking good. Bose have just come back and confirmed all OK. I must admit, I'm impressed with their customer support. Let's hope their product is the same.

That's good news (not the "caged tiger" bit, of course). You'll have to think up some entertainment for him !!The Tinker wrote:Much better - however, not allowed to drive for 2 weeks or lift anything - so walking round like a caged tiger bored and fed up.Silver_Shiney wrote:How's the hubby, Tinks?

It's the same direct from Bose too. We thought of buying one. Correction, I thought of buying one. It never crossed Trish's mind for a second!Stephen wrote:Same.qbman1 wrote:It's £179.95 on Amazon - what are Currys charging ?

I'm a bit of a Luddite where sound bars are concerned. I have considered one in the past but don't really understand what they do so if you are just watching ordinary telly, what do I get from my £100++ ?

Yes - I have brought the coal in - had strict instructions on how to light the bloody fire. Had to start the vehicles - god forbid they don't start even though he is not allowed to drive!Mervyn and Trish wrote:It's the same direct from Bose too. We thought of buying one. Have totally ignored all the other moans - some things remain a man's job and can wait!!!!! PS - he does wipe up the dishes - don't trust him to wash as end up doing it all again.

I'm in two minds about the Bose sound bar. Allot of good reviews on Amazon but also allot of negative. I'm not looking for something that sounds like the music coming out of Onelife's pimpmobile just something as good or a bit better than what our current TV offers. As I said, the only reason I want one is because the two base speakers on our TV resonate so I'm forever adjusting the base level which even then doesn't always get rid of it. I would replace the TV speakers but they are no longer available.
Merv.
There are two prices direct from Bose. One is £199 for a brand new unit or £179 for refurbished unit.
The refurbs are ones that have been tried by a customer using the Bose thirty day trial and then returned to Bose for refurbishment.
I might go over to our Bose outlet tomorrow where it will be much quieter than the big stores such as Currys and get them to demo it for me.
