Yep, back to work for me to.
Just mopped the kitchen floor, now going to clean the fire grate out and make it up for tonight.
It's a tough life

He's having his ears flushed again tomorrow plus a chest x-ray and now on steriods to help combat his fits. Poor chap is going through the mill - we will give him a good chance but won't keep him going if he starts to suffer.

Me too, but I'm not altogether confident. He's only about 13 but he was a stray and I think he had a few rough years before he came to us

Hope your cat gets better cubie, and I hope you have insurance to cover the vets bills, otherwise you might need to dip into the cruise fund.

Sadly not - it's difficult to insure a mangy old stray of indeterminate age (at least that's how he was when he turned up on our doorstep !)towny44 wrote:Hope your cat gets better cubie, and I hope you have insurance to cover the vets bills, otherwise you might need to dip into the cruise fund.
He's in for his ear op and x-rays today so fingers crossed

Re: Last One to Post Wins
Thanks - he seemed fine before we took him off this morning. Assuming his chest x-ray is OK, we then just need to address his fits

Re: Last One to Post Wins
Pussy update !
Sort of good news. The vet just called - they have flushed his ears and discovered damage to both ear drums with some infection in the middle and inner ear which is most probably the cause of his seizures. They think this can be treated with antibiotics and ear drops plus the steroid tablets they put him on yesterday.
The chest x-ray has shown a dislocated sternum and possibly a couple of small fractures, probably caused when he fell off the bed during one of his seizures. This is the cause of his irregular breathing. The vet does not have a lot of experience of this type of injury or the best way to treat it so they are consulting a specialist but it is only a small displacement so they think it will callous over and heal pretty well. He will be in a bit of pain in the meanwhile so he will be on painkillers as well!
All in all, not the really bad news we feared and it is all fairly treatable whilst maintaining a pretty good quality of life for the old feller.
