I used my vouchers on wine - £30 worth for £15 Nectar voucher (which didn't cost anything in the first place - so £30 free wine)

Thanks for asking Blod - but she's a he (it's only Stephen with the gender realignment problem !

He had a fit on Friday morning and then was really good over the weekend until he had a couple more on Sunday night and Monday morning. It takes a lot out of him and he is zonked for hours or even days. The vets have confirmed there is no bacterial growth in his ears but both his ear drums are damaged and they think he has infection in his middle and inner ears which could be affecting the impulses to the brain and causing the fits. They are now targeting that infection with a different antibiotic which I hope will work. He is back at the vet for a check up from the neck up tomorrow night and they are talking about putting him on anti-epilepsy medication whilst the infection hopefully clears up.

OMG poor thing has certainly been through the mill but it's amazing what the vets today can do - chin up and hope for the best :D

Thanks. He's not really suffering and he doesn't know much about the fits and then he just sleeps. We would never keep him going for the sake of it so we are constantly assessing his quality of life and, as you say, hoping for the best

My dog is now 15 years old and is much slower - walks take ages but she still wants to go and she eats well too but spends a lot of her day sleeping. She has cataracts and is a bit deaf but while she is still active and well it's okay but her quality of life is the most important thing.

Afternoon - glad your cat is holding his own. Had an old friend on the phone last night as her cat has gone walkabout - my sympathy was waning after 1.5 hrs!!!!

Some mistake there surely Lord Shiney. I thought only old people got the Wednesday discount at B&Q. How did a young chap like you manage it?

Perhaps he has very low ceilings :) and don't forget the £10000 bathroom he has coming.

I passed the right side of 60 last year, boss.

I'm doing it myself - adding a light to an existing spur that I installed in the loft about 20 years ago, so no need to inform the buildings inspector! Also putting in another couple of power points in the loft for the model railway that I am keen to build.

The bathroom bits cost just under £3,000 (Victorian Plumbing have some rather nice things). We're having the lot stripped out, tiles and all, and putting in a walk-in shower, and wall panels all round, new loo and wash-hand basin. There's a couple of guys coming to do the work and also fix the lounge ceiling where the previous shower/bath installation leaked and caused a fair bit of damage, sort out a problem with the landing floorboards, replace the broken stop-cock and put a new garden fence up. Their labour and fence comes in at about £5k so we should have enough to replace the lounge carpet and still have a sizeable amount of change left from the loan. Undecided as to paying this back (loan interest 3.5%) or drip feeding it into our monthly savings account (net interest 4.5%)

Shiney, if the current shower has leaked causing damage, can't you obtain some sort of insurance contribution towards the bathroom work?

John, by the time I've paid the excess and they put future premiums up, it isn't worth the hassle
