I wish they'd had that arrangement with the RAF... Shouldn't really complain, though, 'cos I also brought back £300+ worth of onyx, two Seiko watches and a car stereo radio, with a few miscellaneous goodies that they waived through.
I was stopped at Akrotiri when I went for a day visit, as he thought I was passing the Seiko chronometer to someone on the island. He only shut up when I handed it to him and told him to return it when I came back later.
The amount of tobacco that was consficated was phenomenal - every few months a large crate would arrive with contraband fags and baccy that we were told to share out amongst ourselves.

I was with the Fleet Air Arm. It was amazing what could be fitted behind an Ejection Seat or into an Aerial Photo Pod.Silver_Shiney wrote:I wish they'd had that arrangement with the RAF... Perhaps its why we were referred to as 'The Senior Service'.

I remember when they used to charge a deposit on bottles. As kids we used to pick them up and collect 3d apiece. Nice little earner and it kept the hedgerows tidy.
I wish they would do the same with drinks cans. The hedgerows around here are littered with them. The kids would make a fortune.

I remember when no one gave Leicester a chance of winning the Premiership and look at them now.oldbluefox wrote:I remember when they used to charge a deposit on bottles. As kids we used to pick them up and collect 3d apiece. Nice little earner and it kept the hedgerows tidy.

Seriously OldBlueFox, congratulations, well deserved and I thoroughly enjoyed the game last Sunday.

It would be a phenomenal achievement if they made it. However it's not over till the fat lady sings. I wish she would get a move on, my nerves are shredded!!!!
