Seriously, though, is it a good upgrade as I hear that some "upgrades" are not that brilliant (obstructed view, further away from where you originally wanted to be etc etc)?

I'm guessing it's quite a good one 'cos they can't sell half the cabins so they are moving the poor sops up who have paid through the nose and flogging the rest off cheap to the local authority as temporary accommodation for migrants !

That's because Magellan does not have balconies, however Columbus will next year, but they will be premium priced somewhat like Oriana.
Hope your upgrade is not a stern cabin, apparently they suffer from engine noise.
