said upgrade is slightly forward of midships, so a good spot to have and considering how much we paid for the cruise, it is turning into a bit of a bargain
no doubt the " I have only cruised with pile it cheap" brigade will try to make an ever so funny joke or two about the ship/the cabin/the passengers.....delete as appropriate, but given we paid less than £900 each for an outside deluxe cabin for 14 nights all inclusive, I would suggest the forums resident PandO cheerleaders, get out of the rut they are in and grow the balls to try a different cruise line before gobbing off about something they know nothing about ;-)

You forget - this cheerleader has sailed with Thomson ! And I've been too close to a CMV vessel - the tender drivers at St Mary's were told not to get too close to avoid the bits that kept dropping off !!

Cruise and Maritime are sailing out of Cardiff next year and that is very tempting - will be interested to hear how your cruise goes Batty. Have a great time

You obviously got a very good deal DK, however not sure how often these will happen, their pricing for 2017 is higher than P&O at present, and even their late deals for 2016 are not especially competitive.
So, as we need to book early, I doubt they will ever offer us a bargain, but like Jan I do look forward to your review.

Towny
we took advantage of the buy one get one free deals they have. The only reason we booked really
As you know we were all set to go with Celebrity but given CMV covered all the main stops at well below half the Celebrity price, it was too good to miss and the uppy was a very nice surprise.
As everyone knows, I don't really care which line we go with ,so as usual we will go with an open mind and enjoy the cruise for what it is, my only reservations are the dress code and having a set dining time on a table for 8, neither of which we have done before
but I am really only interested in the itinerary, so as long as my bed is comfy , the food edible and plentiful and we don't hit a storm in the north sea the rest of the it will be fine ;-)

I'll be interested in your review Batty, especially about food, entertainment, service etc. Magellan is not for us because we like balcony cabins. But we would consider Columbus if the overall package looked good. Enjoy.

formal 2 nights, 8 jacket/suit required (tie optional), 4 smart casual, jacket optional/ and the rules are very strictly enforced, so unless we eat every night in the Buffet, it is fancy dress time

To be honest QB, the dress code is what it is and we will join in with the dressing up, just means we are on 4 suitcases not 2
we did get to Harrogate, it was bloody freezing, great if you were all about plants but not much on veggies, but we had a good look round, thought the prices were a bit steep to be honest, our local garden centre sells the same hostas at less than half the price

It's usually quite good to be at these shows at the end of the last day. There are often some bargains to be had when they are selling off the stock they don't want to take home.

I must say that the food on our one-nighter onboard Discovery was very good. The public areas were decorated to a good standard. The cabins (or at least ours) were very dated and probably haven't been changed since it was converted from a Russian ferry. The show in the show-lounge was as good as P&O. What didn't impress us was the lack of tea and coffee facilities - for a bedtime drink, you had to buy one at the bar and the late night snacks consisted of a waiter coming round with a tray with a very limited choice (2) of savouries. The main thing that put us off, though, was the way the small ship handled mildly choppy seas - even the Lady C felt queasy. Whether the other ships in CMV's fleet are the same, I have no way of knowing.

Did it still have reds under the bed ?

That's one thing about P&O - it's nice to be able to make a hot drink in the cabin when you fancy one

We can't have you being anxious - perhaps an amusing cat picture might lighten the mood

This chap was taking an unnatural interest in a property we visited yesterday !
