"carbon copy" ? How quaint !

The letter works, though - by changing just a few words, it meets every eventuality !
Just thought I'd share my latest keyboard.....

Does it have a Compo key at the other end? If so I want one. If not my life is ruined :sarcasm:

We've had three Epsons over the years. You may think that means they're unreliable. However what happens is this. Epsons only replace the ink reservoir when you change the cartridge, where HP and others change the whole print head. Because of that Epson say you should only use their ink. I ignore that and use cheaper copycat cartridges. The ink quality is excellent for printing but less so for clogging, and after a few years clogs up the heads. Then I throw the lot away and start again. Because branded inks are ludicrously expensive what I save on ink pays for replacing the printer occasionally several times over. And overall also cheaper than buying say an HP printer
Just tried one of my new non branded compatible cartridges, bit of a nightmare to get it to work.
When I first replaced it the LCD screen came up with "Error", after several attempts to clear this I eventually got to a screen that allowed me to say yes I do want to use this cartridge, then I get an on screen pop up giving me warnings about non Epson cartridges causing faults which would invalidate my warranty, and may cause printing problems and faulty printing, and may not show ink levels.
Eventually it seemed to accept it and showed a full black cartridge, so tried to print without much initial success, printer kept trying to start but would not load paper, after much prodding and pushing it did print, and produced an acceptable copy.
I wonder if the Epson software has built in delaying tactics to deter users from choosing non Epson inks, and will this continue with all future printing, don't miss the next exciting episode.

We've started using these at the office and, although Epson Monitor gives the warning that it's not a genuine cartridge, it runs without problems (it is actually an Epson cartridge that's been refilled by a third party). I bought some cartridges from another company for home use, and they say use of their cartridges does not affect the printer warranty. Time will tell...

I would never use third party cartridges with HP - more trouble than they're worth (mind you, I wouldn't buy HP equipment to start with)

As long as it does the job that's the main thing. All the cartridge companies try and scare you into buying their own brand by throwing up warnings when trying to print using unbranded ink. A quick click on the proceed button and a mutter of bog off and it's all systems go

Never had any of the problems you're suffering Towny. Yes it complains and threatens to break down when you put in a copy cartridge, but then gets on with the job. You sure you didn't get yours cheap from Dell Boy?

See what I did there Brother?
