Honestly!!
You could have at least cleaned the skidmarks off yours before showing us your photo of it.

Blimey, they are small, aren't they ?! We were just 11 in our party (including the guide) and we had to take it in turns to breathe in the broom cupboard that doubles as a lift. How they reckon to get 18 in, I really don't know !towny44 wrote:Remember to take a tape measure for those miniscule lifts Cubie.qbman1 wrote:Just a brief visit to reaffirm my position at the head of the peloton. Next time arrange a ships visit to Celebrity Eclipse and compare the difference.qbman1 wrote:Blimey, they are small, aren't they ?! Funnily enough, we were talking about taking a look at one of the Calamity ships next year.
Tell you what, though, the lunch and the menu choice on P&O was far better than Cunard's offering last month

It's a long time since we did any MDR lunch on any cruise, we seldom eat breakfast before 10:00 and then we are never hungry enough for a dining room lunch, or even a buffet lunch, so I have no idea if their standard fare is any good.
Getting back to those lifts do you think P&O are in breach of any trade description regulations when they claim their sardine cans can accomodate 18 persons.

I think they are very slim children. However that sort of nonsense is not unique to P&O or Britannia. I agree the lifts are too small, especially midships with no stairs above deck 7. But the ones on Calamity, while maybe bigger, are probably labelled for 36! I think any line buying a ship should insist the shipyard executives personally demonstrate the capacity after a good dinner on handover day.

Stop being so lazy and use the stairs, if able.

I don't think the Eclipse lifts are rated that high Merv. But they are certainly bigger and therefore better able to cope with the passenger load.Mervyn and Trish wrote:I think they are very slim children. But you know what I mean. I've not been in a lift anywhere that had the remotest chance of carrying the stated number of people, unless fhey were all aged 8 or less!

We do Stephen. But the Britannia problem is there aren't any above deck 7 midships.Stephen wrote:Stop being so lazy and use the stairs, if able.

They do state you can use the crew stairs (actually the normal ones on the Grand class ships but now hidden behind crew only doors) in emergencies, if challenged you could claim it was an emergency as you wanted to get to the dining room while it was still open, or something similar.Mervyn and Trish wrote:We do Stephen. One thing I did like about the behemoth was that partly undercover outside bar on the back deck

Just had to get a validation code from the DVLA for my courtesy car while mine is serviced and noticed my license expires again in Feb. Can any other over 70 remind me if you get a reminder to renew from DVLA or do I have to remember myself?

Blimey - if you don't remember who you are, I'm not sure you should be driving anyway !!towny44 wrote:Just had to get a validation code from the DVLA for my courtesy car while mine is serviced and noticed my license expires again in Feb. Given the issues this has caused I wonder if the hacksaws will come out at refit time to make those into passenger stairstowny44 wrote:They do state you can use the crew stairs (actually the normal ones on the Grand class ships but now hidden behind crew only doors) in emergencies, if challenged you could claim it was an emergency as you wanted to get to the dining room while it was still open, or something similar.Mervyn and Trish wrote:We do Stephen.
