Thanks, folks. Not feeling 100%, but I was like that before I went to the curry house (run by a Bangladeshi...) and enjoyed a very nice lamb korma. The Lady C is much improved and returning to work today, Welshie is better, Seren is back to full health but her daddy is now poorly

I've worked out what it is all about now. Mrs Krankie certainly seems to have let herself go !

Not long until I return to the good ship Arcadia - have any of you been to Venice on a cruise ship and is it walkable in or do I need a water taxi/shuttle?
I would not pay for the ships shuttle water bus which goes back to St Marks via the Guidecca canal, the way the ships go in.
Take the people mover from just outside the port entrance to either Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto then take the Vaporetto down the grand canal to St Marks square, much more scenic. Tronchetto is less crowded just make sure you get on the Vaporetto going via the Grand canal.
After touristing round St Marks you can either go back to the ship the same way or stroll back to Piazzale Roma and the people mover back to the ship. There are lots of pages on the web giving interesting sightseeing routes.
Thanks Towny et al - don't mind walking when I'm not in a hurry. Its a few years since we visited Venice and that was when we were staying in Italy so different scenario. Are P and O crafty and charge you for the ships shuttle water bus or is it inclusive for select passengers?

Unfortunately they will charge you Tinks, but as I said you can do it easier, cheaper and more scenically yourself.
