But I have noticed just recently the words "federalist" and "Federal" have started to appear in this thread. I should be grateful if anyone could explain this to me. TIA

I've noticed that 'Federal' seems to be a common theme recently, and I don't understand why that is the case, at this point in the proceedings. Also, it only seems to be in this forum, no where else does this seem to be a 'thing'.

I don't think all this talk about 'federalism' is relevant to the situation we are in at the moment. As Leavers like to remind everybody, we are leaving on 29/3/19, so it doesn't matter what they may or may not be planning, as we will no longer be members and have no say in how they run things.

(it may matter as, in a 'deal' situation, we'll likely to be subject to their regulations for many years to come, but as I say, we won't be able to do anything about it. But this is not the point that the ones fearful of Federalism are making)

I can only speculate why, as a group, this matter seems so important to Brexit forum members.

My best guess is that they are
a) still trying to justify their vote. (there's no need for this, we are beyond that stage now.)
b) Trying to get Remainers round to their way of thinking. (we are also beyond that stage, as views are entrenched)
c) using this as a displacement activity, to try and not think about the UK being in a crisis situation)

As far as I'm concerned, the elephant in the room is what the EU intends to become, and that is never discussed by either side.

At the moment, it's speculation as is almost all of the Remain arguments, but the EU intentions have been very widely publicized.

To pretend that the EU will stay the same is like trying to pretend that it it what we joined all of those years ago.

To gauge current opinion depends entirely on what question you ask.

How about

Leave the EU and determine our own future
or
Remain in the EU, be ruled by Brussels and continue to pay in even increasing amounts of tax payers money while collaborating in robbing eastern Europe of the youngest and brightest people and admitting more and more supplicant poor counties looking for hand outs.

Has a slightly different ring to it ?

If the UK does not take this opportunity now, it will be buried for ever and our descendants will question why we did not leave when we had the chance.
It's not really an elephant, as you do talk about it rather a lot

You told me the other week you only deal in facts - so not sure why you feel it's necessary to keep speculating on the EU's intentions when we are leaving on the 29th March 2019. It won't be our concern what they do.

Hi Jack......l have read many links on this forum, most of which counteract each other so l now rarely bother reading any of them....l did, however, come across this one which you might like to read to have while enjoying your afternoon tea....just make sure you have a sick bag ready when you read it.

Sorry Keith, can't really comment as I am too tight to get past the paywall.
But, in general, redundancy payments are fine, especially if you have had to move to a country to do that job and even more that you will no longer be allowed to stay in that country once that job ends.
However, I do not believe these payments should be made to UKIP MEPs or some Conservative MEPs as they created this situation in the first place.

Not really sure why you asked the question or why the emphasis in your reply to me. I think barney answered this very succinctly in his post which I have copied for you:
