Jack, just listening to the debate and all the voices echoing your mantra that we we did not vote to make the country poorer. Well if you remember there were lots of groups of remainers from all parties as well as lots of comments, which were labelled project fear, which clearly spelled out the economic cost of a leave vote. So all Brexiteers were duly warned about the cost to our economy and even armed with this information the vote was to leave.
I guess you won't want to acknowledge this fact, and I expect you will still want to remain, but which party will you be supporting if in fact the Tory administration falls. The Libdems are unlikely to command a majority, similarly the Greens, neither are the SNP and anyway they don't contest seats in the rest of the UK. So which party will you vote for to guarantee that we either remain or have a second vote?
I expect all the MPs who are consulting him will want to know the same, towny.
There certainly is a lot of debate on what might happen. John is relying on the same situation as the 2017 GE. In that Labour picked up a lot of votes, even with a cretin as leader. That was simply due to Remainers voting against a Tory Brerxit, not for Labour, as he rightly says LibDems (etc) unlikely to command a majority. This will not happen again. I agree the choice is presently limited, so just for your amusement, how about this for an idea....
Both Labour and the Conservatives are split between leave and remain, so a temporary split, into their presently existing component parts, stop giggling, hear me out....
The Tories split into the Conservative (leave) and Unionist (remain) parties.
Labour split to Labour (leave) and Co-operative (remain) parties.
Basically each party puts up their two candidates, once the GE is over the two halves of each party can then reunite (unlikely with the Tories, I admit!).
A totally wild idea I know, but it has the advantage over just about any other plan at present, in that it might work! Also no need for a People Vote.
Testiculi ad Brexitum. Venceremos.
