Ha Ha Ha, anyhow, I am off to Gatwick tomorrow to fly out to Azura for the TA. Now listen up, I want you all to play nicely together till I get back.
Stephen and Merv, I hope you both have a good meet up and Merv, you don't have a long wait until Stephen gets out and unlock his wallet.

Unfortunately Merv may have to cover the expenses as my wallet is still up at A&E where the top surgical team are trying their best to open it

Re: Last One to Post Wins
Not worthy of a separate topic, but, Diane Abbott..?
Yes of course Amber Rudd was careless in her use of language when she described Diane Abbott as "coloured". But is that racist? It's certainly not politically correct but it is a moving minefield. What's okay today won't be tomorrow and will be back in favour on Monday. At one time the now accepted "black" was out. Now it's back as the preferred term.
But at the time she was defending Abbott whom she said, essentially, should not be attacked because of her race. But instead of saying "thank you" for defending me, Diane goes for the jugular.
What she seems to miss is that generally she is not criticised because of her gender, race, religion, colour, sexuality or whatever.
She gets stick because she is incompetent. She gets stick because she is a hypocrite - hard left in politics but sent her child to a private school.
That has nothing to do with race or colour.

Why is black more acceptable than coloured, especially as it seems to encompass all shades of black?
Also why are mixed race all classed as black, surely part of them is white, is that not racist?

I've no idea. That's what I mean about it being a minefield, and a moving one at that.towny44 wrote: 08 Mar 2019, 15:45Why is black more acceptable than coloured, especially as it seems to encompass all shades of black?

But the good news is so far no-one has challenged Diane's incompetence, which seems to go far beyond Amber's lingusitic slip!
